Chapter 53Toni looked at Kristen as her eyes got all big. “What do you mean your water just broke?” Toni asked trying to remain as calm as possible.
“What the hell do you think I mean!”
“Are you sure you just didn’t piss your pants or something!”
“Toni! My fucking water broke!”
“Then unbreak it! Why the hell would you let your water break!”
“Like I can control it!”
“Damn it Kristen! This is Nick’s fucking car! He’s going to kick my ass because you ruined it!” Toni yelled at her.
“If you don’t get me to a fucking hospital I’ll pop this baby out and ruin it even more!” Toni turned the car around and began driving towards the hospital as she cussed most of the way there.
“Kristen are you sure this isn’t like a huge mistake. You’re not due for another month and a half. You can’t have a baby this early.”
“How in the hell could it be a mistake?”
“How should I know! Maybe you have a baby that takes after Nick or something and it’s trying to play it’s first trick on you.”
“I’m not in the mood for your damn jokes!” Kristen said as she started crying her eyes out.
“Okay crying is not good because you’re not helping the situation.”
“You driving the fucking speed limit isn’t helping the situation either!” Kristen yelled and Toni slammed on the accelerator so they would get there faster and Kristen would hopefully calm down a little bit.
“I have an idea, we’ll just call AJ and tell him to…” Toni said as Kristen grabbed the phone away from Toni and threw it out the window.
“That was Nick’s car phone! I am so going to beat your fucking ass! First you ruin the damn car by letting your water break then you ruin his phone by throwing it out the window! He’s going to kill me, that’s all there is too it. My boyfriend is going to fucking kill me then I will come back from death and kill you and then we’ll all…” Toni rambled on and Kristen smacked her. “What the hell was that for!”
“I swear to God Toni you better shut the fuck up and get me to a hospital!”
“Where the hell do you think I’m going! As soon as we get there we are getting you drugged up since I have to deal with you and that way you’ll be going through less pain and then I’m going to get on a phone a call AJ and tell him to get his ass here.”
“You are not calling AJ,” Kristen said through more tears. She couldn’t stop crying due to the fact that she had never been so scared before in her life and she didn’t know if there was going to be something wrong with the baby since she was still early in the pregnancy.
“Kristen, I have to call AJ. It’s his baby I think he would want to know and be here for you because God knows I sure as hell don’t wanna be.”
“Will you shut up!” Kristen screamed at her.
“No I will not shut up! From now on we are taking yours or AJ’s car,” Toni said as they pulled up to the emergency door at the hospital. She got out of the car then went to the passenger side and helped Kristen out. “Fucking shit balls!” she screamed when she saw the seat. “I swear to God Kristen if you weren’t pregnant and about to have a baby I would beat the shit out of you right this instant.”
“If I wasn’t pregnant it wouldn’t have happened you dumbass!”
“Don’t be calling me names! You are buying him a new damn car before he gets home and hopefully he doesn’t find out about this little incident!” Toni said as she walked with her into the hospital where they immediately ran into Dr. Miller.
“Kristen, what’s wrong?” she asked.
“This baby wants to come out that’s what’s wrong!” Kristen yelled through more tears. Dr. Miller sent someone to get a wheel chair then helped Kristen sit down as she began to wheel her to a room on the maternity floor.
“What am I supposed to do?” Toni asked.
“Call Kristen’s husband,” Dr. Miller replied.
“Don’t you dare even think about calling him Toni Ortiz!” Kristen yelled down the hallway.
“Let’s see,” Toni said to herself. “Call AJ or deal with Kristen myself? Definitely call AJ.” Toni went to a pay phone and quickly called AJ’s cell phone number collect.
“The person you dialed is not answering the phone, if you wish you can hang up and try again,” the recorded voice said and Toni slammed down the phone. “Shit AJ now is the wrong time to decide not to answer your phone.” She kept trying and about ten minutes later AJ finally answered his phone.
“Hey Toni you are going to owe me for this collect call you know,” he said.
“No AJ you are going to owe Nick a new fucking car so don’t even start on me about a measly little phone bill.”
“Why? What did you do to Nick’s prowler?” AJ asked knowing exactly what car she was talking about since she had a habit of taking it when he wasn’t home.
“Me? It’s what your wife did to his car!”
“What is Kristen doing with Nick’s car?”
“I picked her up to take her out since Jane asked me to since she never goes anywhere and we were on the way to the mall after lunch because we wanted to go shopping right and…”
“Can you spare me the details and get on with the story? We have a concert to do in about an hour and a half and I have to eat and get warmed up.”
“Okay you want a short and crisp story? Her fucking water broke in Nick’s car!” Toni screamed causing people in the hospital to give her weird looks. One of the nurses even told her that she needed to have respect for other people and keep her voice down. Toni just flipped her off behind her back when she walked away.
“What do you mean her water broke? Can’t you just get a plumber at the house and fix it?” Toni didn’t say anything for a few seconds as her mouth dropped to the floor over what AJ said.
“Oh my God,” she finally said. “You truly are a 100% male. Now AJ, if I said her water broke in Nick’s car why would she need a plumber at the house?”
“Well how can she be breaking the water in Nick’s car? There is no plumbing?” Toni just stood there not knowing what to say. Her theory on how stupid him and Kristen were began showing with him more and more. Kevin was standing there hearing AJ’s side of the conversation and began shaking his head in disbelievment over him being completely clueless then he took the phone from AJ.
“Toni what hospital is Kristen at?” Kevin asked her along with a few other questions before hanging up the phone. “You need to get down to the Orlando hospital as soon as possible. You’re missing the concert tonight and probably for the next few days.”
“Why what’s going on?”
“AJ I swear, I don’t understand how you can be the complete expert on sex but be a complete idiot on the after effects of it. You’re wife is going into labor which means that she is about to give birth to your baby which means you need to get there and get there now.”
“What! She’s only like seven months or something like that! I thought babies were supposed to stay in their little home until nine months!”
“Which gives you even more of a reason to get to the hospital,” Kevin said and AJ took off running out of the building as he called a cab up to get there asap. About four hours or so had passed so Toni called Jane about an hour earlier since she was completely clueless on what to do. She then figured that it would be a good time to tell Kristen that AJ was on his way to the hospital
“Excuse me has she been given any drugs yet?” Toni asked one of the nurses before going into her room.
“No, she specifically ordered that she didn’t want any drugs.”
“Well I have a little something to tell her and I think it would be better if you drugged the girl up a little first.”
“I’m sorry I can’t do that without her permission.”
“Thanks a lot,” Toni said sarcastically as she went into the room and stood next to the bed Kristen was laying on. “Hey babe how ya feeling.”
“How the fuck do you think I feel Toni?”
“Um pretty bad?”
“Ding ding ding! Two points for Toni! Now stop asking me stupid questions!”
“Kristen I have a little something that I should tell you,” Toni began.
“What?”
“I called AJ a few hours ago and he’s on his way here.”
“You what!” Kristen screamed. ,p>“I called AJ a few hours ago…” Toni began repeating herself.
“I heard you the first time!” Kristen screamed that grabbed Toni around the neck with both hands and began strangling her. Toni grabbed the call button remote thing and began pressing it like crazy until a few nurses came in and pried Kristen’s fingers off her neck. “Get the fuck out!” she screamed. Toni didn’t have to be told twice before she ran out the door where she felt a water pitcher hit her in the back of the head.
“Girl you’re going down once your ass is out of this hospital!” Toni yelled into the room. She turned and saw AJ and Jane who arrived at the hospital at the same time standing there giving her weird looks. “I’m not dealing with her anymore. I don’t want to see her until that baby is out of her do you both understand this? Good,” Toni said before either one of them could say anything. “Good now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go get an ice pack for my head.”
“The water pitcher was plastic,” AJ said.
“And Kristen needs a plumber to fix the water she broke!” she yelled then walked away.
“You wait here, I’ll go talk to Kristen,” Jane said going into the room.
“Jane I swear I feel like I’m dying,” Kristen said through tears when she saw her.
“You’ll be fine,” Jane said taking her hand and squeezing it. “Is there anything I can get you?”
“You can get me AJ, I’ll pay you to get him here for me now.”
“You want to talk to AJ?” Jane asked making sure she heard her right. “I thought you were upset with him?”
“I don’t care any more! I mean I do but I need him! I can’t do this without him. He’s always there to back me up when I’m in pain, please Jane get him for me. I need to hear from him that everything is going to be okay. I don’t trust these damn doctors.”
“I’ll see what I can do,” Jane said kissing Kristen on her sweaty forehead then leaving the room. “She’s in there practically begging me to get you for her.”
“What?” Toni asked since she came back with ice pack held up to her head. “I just got strangled and a water pitcher thrown at me when I told her I called him!”
“Well what can I say? She wants him now. Go ahead AJ.” AJ grabbed the bouquet of flowers he had gotten Kristen on the way there and slowly made it towards her room not knowing what to expect.
