Chapter 50Check out the Christmas Single
It was finally the release date of the Backstreet Boys new album and millions of fan around the world were completely ecstatic as they lined up outside major music stores to grab a copy. The guys were inside Virgin Records in Orlando for an autograph signing of their album just moments before the doors were to be opened. Once the doors opened hundreds of fans rushed in, purchased a CD, and got in line for the boys to sign their CD’s for them. As AJ signed his name over and over the same thing that was bothering him the last few weeks was bothering him once again. He was afraid that he would lose what he and Kristen had once this baby was born. He lost his train of thought when Kevin started elbowing him. "Huh what?" AJ asked him.
"This girl is trying to talk to you and you’re not answering her question."
"Oh sorry, what was it that you asked again?" AJ asked turning to look at the teenage girl standing in front of him.
"Do you know if Love’s Angels are going to have an autograph signing for their Christmas single when they get back from touring?" the girl asked repeating herself and AJ gave her a strange look.
"What Christmas single?"
"This one," she said showing him an imported single with the girls on the cover.
"Yo D, did you know the girls came out with a Christmas single?" AJ hollered at Howie who was at the other end of the table.
"I knew that they were planning on it I didn’t know when it was to come out though," he said.
"Well I’m glad I was informed about it. Listen," AJ said turning back to the girl and pulling out fifteen dollars from his wallet. "What’s your name again?"
"Heather."
"Well, Heather, can you go buy a copy of the single and bring it back to me and in return if you give me your address I’ll have the girls send you an autographed copy of the single."
"Really? Thanks!" the girl said taking the money and walking away all excited. She came back a few minutes later handing AJ the single and giving him her address. She walked away to join a few of her friends as they all started screaming.
"You can look at it later AJ," Kevin told him since he was opening it and a girl was standing there waiting for him to sign her CD. A few hours later they wrapped things up and got ready to leave. When AJ got home he picked up the phone and dialed Kristen’s cell phone number.
"Hey baby," Kristen said answering the phone.
"How’d you know it was me?" AJ asked.
"Because I figured you’d be calling any day now since you haven’t called me in a few days and when I tried calling you your phone was turned off."
"Sorry, I’ve just had a lot on my mind the past few weeks."
"Such as…"
"Never mind about that. Why didn’t you tell me you girls released a Christmas single?" AJ asked curiously.
"Damn I’m sorry AJ. It completely slipped my mind, I’ve been so busy. But I guess I could tell you now that when we get back we are scheduled to perform for Disney’s Holidays in Concert. Pretty cool huh? I’ve been wanting to do a Disney concert since we started making it big."
"Yeah, that’s great," AJ said softly.
"What is going on AJ?"
"Nothing, we’ll talk about it when you get home, bye," AJ said then hung up the phone. For the next two months while the girls were on tour AJ would frequently call Kristen like usual but even though he wouldn’t say much she knew that something was wrong. Kristen was almost five months pregnant when their plane landed in Orlando after finishing off their tour.
"Thank God we are finally home," Toni said once the plane landed. "Kristen I love you dearly, but I don’t want to see you again until that baby is born," Toni said giving her a hug then walking off the plane to be embraced in Nick’s arms.
"What was that about?" Kristen asked confused.
"Kristen you know we all love you like a sister but you have been unbearable lately. You’re completely driving us insane," Mandy said trying to say it as nicely as possible but didn’t succeed at that very well.
"I am not!"
"How many times exactly did you send a bodyguard out in the middle of the night to get you a hot fudge sundae with ranch dressing on top?" Jasmine asked sarcastically.
"Dude I thought ranch would only taste good on pizza but it’s a great topping for a hot fudge sundae. You should try it sometime."
"You’re sick Kristen, that’s all there is to it," Mandy said grabbing her stuff and walking off the plane. Kristen and Jasmine soon followed as they ran into AJ’s and Howie’s arms. Kristen knocked AJ and her onto the floor when she grabbed on to him.
"Happy to see me?" AJ asked sarcastically as he laid on the airport floor with Kristen on top of him.
"You have no idea," Kristen said kissing him then getting up off the floor.
"Wow you’re starting to get a belly there," AJ said looking at her stomach as he grabbed her stuff.
"Thanks a lot," Kristen said sarcastically. "I swear I better lose all this weight I’m gaining after this kid is born." AJ didn’t say anything he just went with her to baggage claim, grabbed her stuff and went home where they both got ready for bed. "Are you going to tell me what’s been bothering you all this time?" Kristen asked laying next to AJ. She found it a little strange that he was just laying there and he wouldn’t wrap his arms around her or anything.
"Nothing really, I’ve just been worried about you and the baby that’s all," AJ said giving her a kiss then turning around and closing his eyes going to sleep. Kristen looked him strangely before going to sleep herself. AJ woke up early in the morning way before the sun was up to Kristen shaking him. "What’s wrong?" he asked her tiredly.
"I’m hungry."
"I went to the grocery store the other day. There’s plenty of food in the kitchen."
"I don’t want the food in the kitchen."
"Then what do you want?"
"I want you to go out and get me a hot fudge sundae. And if there is no ranch dressing then a bottle of that too."
"Are you kidding me?" AJ asked.
"No, now please AJ I really really want one."
"Can’t you wait until morning? No one is going to be open this late."
"No I can’t wait till morning, I’ll never get to sleep. Besides Denny’s is open twenty-four hours a day, just go there." AJ rolled his eyes then got out of bed and began getting dressed.
"I hope this isn’t a routine for you every night."
"No, just when I have a craving for one," Kristen said with a smile then gave him a kiss before he left. When AJ got back he went into the bedroom to see Kristen fast asleep once again. He shook her to wake her up but she shrugged him off.
"I have the sundae you wanted," he said.
"I don’t want it anymore," Kristen said tiredly then fell back asleep. AJ went and put it in the freezer then went back to bed hoping Kristen wouldn’t be doing that every night. The next morning they both got up to go to Kristen’s doctor appointment.
"Well the baby is forming perfectly and is in great health," Dr. Miller told them. "Would you like to know the sex of the baby?"
"No!" AJ yelled really fast and Kristen gave him a strange look. "I mean no, I want it to be a surprise," he lied. He still wasn’t exactly very enthusiastic about the baby coming into their lives changing everything in four months. Dr. Miller gave them a copy of the ultrasound on tape for them to take home.
"I’m going to go take a nap," Kristen told AJ when they got home. "Whatever the hell is bothering you I hope you plan on telling me sometime soon before I started to get pissed off at you," she said leaving towards the bedroom. AJ had the tape of the ultrasound in his hand and threw it down on the table then left the house to get his head clear of things.
