Chapter 51"Hey the Disney holiday concert thing is on TV," AJ hollered at Kristen at about six o'clock on Christmas day.
"My God I look so fat compared to Mandy and Jasmine," Kristen said sitting down on the couch next to AJ.
"Well if they were pregnant they wouldn't look so thin either."
"I don't know whether you are trying to insult me or compliment me so we'll let it slide. Food smells good what are you making?"
"Ham, mashed potatoes, corn, and a few desserts."
"Did you remember to buy more ranch dressing?" Kristen asked with a smile on her face.
"You have been eating that stuff on everything lately. Don't you think you would get sick of it?"
"No because I love it."
"Yeah but you have it every day."
"Well I love you and I have you every day. Should I get sick of you?"
"I hope not."
"Good," Kristen said giving AJ a kiss as he wrapped his arms around her.
"You know Toni said while you were touring you had a huge attitude with her and everyone else. You haven't gotten an attitude with me at all."
"That's because you're special like that and I missed you. I couldn't handle being pregnant and being away from you. Do you have to leave with the guys in a few weeks for your tour?"
"You know I do. Besides you'll be fine without me, you'll have Toni, Jasmine, and Mandy to watch after you."
"Yeah but that is completely besides the point, AJ. What if I go into labor and have this baby and you're not here?"
"Don't worry about it I will be," AJ said then Kristen was silent for a few minutes before she spoke again.
"This is really sweet how you decided that we should spend Christmas this year alone together. But why did you decide that instead of going to Jane's party like we all do every year?"
"No reason. I just wanted to spend a holiday together completely alone before any kids came along."
"What do you mean by that?" Kristen asked sitting up so she was leaving his embrace.
"Nothing, it's just once the baby is born we won't get to spend any time alone together. We'll always have a baby to deal with."
"To deal with?" Kristen asked him with an attitude. "That's what this baby means to you? It's just something you have to deal with?"
"Kristen that's not what I meant."
"But that's what you said. Is this what has been bothering you for months? You're afraid you won't get to be alone with me since you'll have a baby to deal with?"
"Well you know that everything will change for us. We won't get to spend as much time alone together because there will always be kids around the house."
"What the hell is with the change of attitude about this AJ? And where are you getting this shit from?" Kristen asked getting very angry with AJ.
"I was just talking to Nick and..."
"Nick! You're going to listen to Nick! I'm sorry but how the hell would he know anything about having kids?"
"He has four younger siblings. I think he would notice the change with his parents."
"Jane and Bob seem perfectly fine and happy to me."
"Well he just said that with kids we won't have as much time alone and we wouldn't have room for sex in our marriage any more."
"Sex! Is that all you fucking care about is sex!"
"That's not what I meant."
"I don't give a shit what you meant!" Kristen yelled at him. "Nick has four younger siblings did they just pop into thin air or something since his parents didn't have time for sex because they had him in the house? AJ I swear to God I want an honest answer here."
"About what?"
"Do you want this baby or not and don't even think about lying to me just to make me feel better either."
"I.....I just think we should have waited a little longer," AJ said and tears came to Kristen's eyes.
"Come here, you know I love you and I'll love this baby just as much it's just..." AJ said going to wrap his arms around Kristen but she jumped up and interrupted him.
"Go to hell AJ," Kristen said grabbing her car keys and going to the door but AJ quickly closed it before she could leave and he grabbed her arm but not hard. "Let me go!"
"Just listen to me please."
"That was my first mistake why the hell would I do it again? You told me you would be here for me through this pregnancy and we would take care of this baby. You're a fucking liar," she said then shoved him causing him to let go of her and move back a little. Kristen ran to her car in tears and drove away as AJ tried to stop her but failed. The only place Kristen knew to go to was Jane Carter's house since that was where everyone else was spending Christmas. By the time she got there she was hysterical with tears and she slowly walked to the door and knocked.
"Hey Kristen...are you okay?" BJ asked answering the door.
"I just need to talk to Toni is she around?" Kristen asked entering the house and Toni immediately saw her and got up off Nick's lap and ran over to her.
"Oh my God girl what happened?" she asked when she saw Kristen's tear streaked face.
"He doesn't want it...he doesn't want the baby," Kristen said crying and Toni wrapped her arms around her and let her cry into her shoulder.
"What's going on in here?" Jane asked coming into the living room and seeing Kristen and Toni with their arms around each other as Kristen cried.
"AJ doesn't want the baby," Toni told her.
"I thought it was AJ's idea in the first place?" Jasmine asked confused.
"It was," Kristen said letting go of Toni. "But Nick talked to him and said once this baby was born we would never be alone and things would completely change for us and now he doesn't want it."
"Nickolas Gene Carter!" Jane yelled at her eldest son.
"I think that's my que to leave," Nick said getting up to leave but Jane grabbed his arm and stopped him.
"Why would you tell AJ something like that when you obviously know nothing about it unless you and Toni are hiding a kid somewhere."
"Oh trust me on that one Jane, there aren't any kids," Toni said.
"Mom, we all know it's true, I was just trying to warn him."
"No, Nickolas, it's not true. If two people want a baby it can only bring them closer together now are you trying to screw that up?"
"I was just trying to help him out."
"Well you keeping your mouth shut from now on will do plenty of help. Now go to your room and think about what you did," Jane ordered him and he gave her a weird look.
"Mom I'm not a little kid any more. I'm a little bit too old for you to be sending me to my room."
"I don't care if you're a hundred and three years old Nick, I still have the power to send you to your room, now go!"
"This is stupid!" Nick yelled back at her.
"What getting sent to your room? I can spank you too if you want."
"I'm like twice your size you couldn't spank me!" Nick yelled and Jane swung her hand and smacked Nick on the ass causing him to jump a little and Nick left towards his bedroom. Toni started laughing hysterically.
"Toni if he ever pulls anything like this on you let me know and I'll take care of it," Jane told her.
"Don't worry you'll be the first person I call."
"Now come with me Kristen," Jane said grabbing her hand. "You can stay here tonight," she said leading her into a bedroom. "You can sleep in BJ's room, I'll just put her in with Leslie. And you need to calm down a little. It's not good for you to be so hysterical right now."
"I'm sorry, I just don't know what to do," Kristen said laying down on the bed.
"You don't have to do anything. AJ has to figure all this out on his own and realize on his own that he shouldn't listen to other people, especially Nick, and realize that he really does love you and the baby. But until he figures it out you're going to stay here. Toni or the other girls don't know what it's like to be pregnant so it's better that you stay here."
"Thank you," Kristen said giving her a hug. "I appreciate this so much."
"I don't mind at all. You and Toni are the first girlfriends of Nick's that I've actually liked. Trust me he got a huge lecture when I found out he let you go. I already threatened his life if he screwed things up with Toni. Sometimes he's just not so smart upstairs. Now get some sleep and we'll talk in the morning," Jane said getting up and leaving. Kristen laid her head down on the pillow as she silently cried herself to sleep.
