Chapter 5

It was two days before the wedding and everyone was gathered at the Carter household to help set up with the wedding. Kristen's grandparents had flown to Florida the day before so they could be there for the wedding. "AJ I have to go to the airport, I'll see you in about an hour or two," Kristen said giving him a kiss. Her best friend, Theresa, from Wyoming was flying in.

"Alright hurry up so you can be here to tell us if you like how everything is going."

"If you like it, it'll be fine. Hey Toni! You want to come to the airport with me to get Theresa?" Kristen yelled across the yard. Toni shoved a bunch of flowers into Nick's arms and took off running towards Kristen.

"You bet I'm going. Some of these people are starting to get on my nerves and I can't wait to see Theresia," Toni said.

"Who's getting on your nerves?" Kristen asked as they walked to the car.

"Nick's grandparents. They keep asking me all kinds of questions about me and Nick."

"So what's the problem with that?" Kristen asked as she pulled out down the driveway.

"Every single time I see them they ask the same questions over and over. Have you and Nick had sex yet? When was the last time he gave you a little something in bed? It's embarrassing!"

"Sorry dude. I guess I should be thankful that AJ's grandparents aren't like that. Unfortunately for AJ, my grandpa is. I'm afraid what my grandpa is going to talk to him now since I'm not around." About half an hour later they arrived at the airport and got to the gate that Theresa would be arriving at. Theresa walked out of the gate and ran up to Toni and Kristen.

"Where's Kevin!" she yelled not even saying hi.

"Nice to see you too," Kristen said sarcastically.

"Sorry, hey Toni," Theresa said giving her a hug. "I haven't seen you in a few years. What's up?"

"Well, I'm dating Nick and I moved in with him a few months ago," Toni said with a smile.

"So, I'm the only one not dating a Backstreet Boy. Is Kevin still single?"

"He's as single as they come," Kristen said.

"Well, not for long he's not." About an hour later they got back to the house and Theresa flew out of the car.

"What's her hurry?" Toni asked.

"One word, Kevin," Kristen said as she got out of the car. The two of them walked to the backyard and saw Theresa just standing there staring at Kevin. "What's wrong?"

"It's Kevin! He's so hot!"

"Okay Theresa, breath in...breath out," Kristen said as Theresa stood there watching Kevin help set up the walk way that went all the way across the pool. He dropped one of the planks on his hand and he jerked his hand back.

"Hello nurse!" Theresa yelled as she took off running towards Kevin. As soon as she reached him she stopped dead in her tracks.

"Kevin, I would like you to meet my friend, Theresa. You talked to her on the phone before," Kristen said when her and Toni reached the two of them.

"Yeah, I remember. Nice to meet you," Kevin said as he held out his hand to shake Theresa's. Theresa took his hand and as soon as she touched him she fainted on the pool deck.

"Oh my God you killed her!" Toni yelled at Kevin.

"What?" Kevin asked confused. "How would I have killed her?" Kevin asked knowing that she had just fainted and wasn't dead.

"You touched her! How the hell else do you think you killed her!" Toni screamed almost on the verge of tears.

"Toni calm down, she's not dead," Kristen said trying to comfort her as Kevin picked Theresa up and carried her into the house.

"Yes she is!" Toni yelled now crying. "Kevin touched her and then she hit the floor!"

"What's going on?" Nick asked going up to Toni and wrapping his arms around her.

"Kevin killed Theresa!"

"Oh no, here we go again," Nick said rolling his eyes. "Toni, remember the last time this happened and you thought AJ was dead. He was really alive, he just fainted."

"So Theresa's not dead?" Toni asked wiping her eyes.

"No, he's not, just like AJ wasn't dead," Nick said when Toni went running into the house to see Theresa. "She has a serious problem with thinking that people are dead doesn't she?" Nick asked Kristen.

"Apparently so. I guess she just cares to much about her friends and over reacts when the simplest things happen to them. Now when did AJ faint?"

"Oh, when Toni told him that you were pregnant," Nick said and Kristen's eyes got all wide when she saw her dad standing right behind Nick.

"Hi daddy," Kristen said innocently.

"Oops," Nick said as he turned around and saw her dad. "I'll talk with you a little later," he said walking away.

"I think you have some explaining to do," her dad said.

"Yes sir," Kristen said walking away with her dad.

"Are you pregnant?"

"No I'm not."

"Were you pregnant?"

"Yes I was."

"Was it AJ's baby?" her dad asked and she nodded her head yes. "Where is the baby at?"

"I had a miscarriage a few months ago."

"What the hell were you thinking? Don't you know that you should use protection and wait until you're married? Not until you are engaged?" her dad lectured.

"You have no right to yell at me about this."

"I have every right to yell at you about it! I'm your father!"

"I don't care who you are! I'm twenty years old and living on my own. I don't need to be lectured about what I do any more!"

"Yes you do! As long as you aren't being responsible I have every right too!"

"No, you don't. Julie had a kid when she was sixteen. I would have been almost twenty when I had the baby which is four years older and a lot more responsible than her! You never lectured her about it," Kristen said walking away. AJ saw her walk away from her dad in tears.

"What happened with your dad?" he asked going up to her.

"Nothing, I'm just tired of being treated like a little kid. Nick accidentally spilled it about me being pregnant not knowing that my dad was standing behind him. He just got a little upset about it."

"Hey, try not to worry about it," AJ said wrapping his arms around her and holding her. "Our wedding is the day after tomorrow and you should be happy, okay?" AJ could feel Kristen nod her head in agreement against his chest. "And one more thing. Don't ever leave me alone in the same house as your grandfather.

"Why? What did he say this time?"

"Nothing much. Just wanting to know if there was something wrong with me for having so many tattoos. Oh and that I am marrying the wrong sister."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"I don't know something about your sister Julie and I would make a better a couple since we both like covering our bodies with tattoos. My tattoos aren't that bad are they?" AJ asked.

"No, I like them. Except for the '69' around your belly button," Kristen said going to walk away.

"What do you mean except the 69 around my belly button? That's my best tattoo!" AJ said grabbing Kristen's arm and turning her back around so she was facing him.

"I was kidding. Just when our kids ask what that is supposed to mean I'm not doing the explaining," Kristen said giving him a quick kiss then heading back to help set things up. Everyone stopped setting stuff up before it got dark and headed over to a park for a barbecue. Theresa was doing fine and she started to become comfortable around Kevin. Everyone was sitting down at picnic tables eating and talking when Kristen's dad came up to her.

"Can we talk for a minute privately?" he asked her.

"Yeah, sure. Be right back," she said to AJ as she got up and followed her dad. "Going to lecture me some more or something?"

"No, I'm apologizing. Your mother heard our argument and pointed out that I was wrong, so I'm sorry. Also I wanted to give you this," her dad said handing her a key.

"What's this?"

"It's your wedding present from me and your mom. It's a key to a storage area by AJ's house. We had our dining room furniture shipped here. We knew how much you always said you wanted it so we're giving it to you. We are also giving you all of your Great Grandmother's china you wanted too. That's in the car so we'll take it to your house tonight."

"Thanks Daddy," Kristen said hugging her father. "I love you so much."

"I love you too and I can't wait to walk you down that aisle, or rather across that pool and give you away."

"Thanks," Kristen said giving her dad a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey, we're having a little bachelor party for you at Brian's house tomorrow night," Howie told AJ as the two of them, Nick, Kevin, and Brian were standing around talking.

"Yeah, and you might not want to tell Kristen about it either," Brian said with a smile.

"Why? What are you guys up to?" AJ asked.

"Nothing. Females always get suspicious about bachelor parties and try and keep you to stay home. Don't tell Kristen and that way you will be able to come," Brian said hiding what was really going to happen the next night.

"Alright. I'll see you guys later tomorrow then. I think I'm going to get Kristen so we can get home. We have wedding rehearsals early tomorrow and I really don't want her to be cranky from lack of sleep like usual. Don't forget to meet back and Nick's parent's house either," AJ said walking away. He went up to Kristen who was playing with Angel on the playground in the park. "You ready to go?" he asked wrapping his arms around her.

"Sure, come on Angel," Kristen said and Angel followed her. Kristen went and gave her parents her house key to AJ's house so they could get in if her and AJ went to bed.

"Will you take Angel with you and put her to bed?" Julie asked.

"Yeah sure." Kristen, Angel and AJ got in AJ's car and drove back to his house. When they got there Kristen looked in the back-seat and saw that Angel was passed out. Kristen got out of the car and went to pick her up out of the back-seat when AJ stopped her.

"Hold up, I'll get her," he said. "Kids gain like fifty pounds when they are asleep or something like that."

"So are you implying that I'm too weak and wouldn't be able to carry her?" she asked as they walked in the house with Angel in AJ's arms. AJ didn't answer and went and put her in her pajamas and tucked her into bed then went into his room to see Kristen already fast asleep on the bed. He smiled as he thought about the fact that in one day he would be the happiest man alive.
