Bitter Payback

“Angela you can’t go to work, but you can still come here to eat? I see something wrong here.”

“Well I am not going to work with this black eye now am I? I came because I don’t trust Nick with my sister.”

“Angela you are so conceited! Now Miss do you want something to eat or not because in order for you to stay here you have to order something.” Told Cathy from annoyance.

“A thing of spaghetti and garlic bread.” Angela said without even looking at the menu.

“And to drink?”

“Hawaiian punch.” Angela grinned with such a fake smile. Cathy rolled her eyes as she left the table. Angela was so annoying and egotistical it was pathetic. Cathy put the order on the Chef’s counter. Glancing at the clock she realized her shift was over in 5 minutes. She went over to Brian and told him to take over for her.

“Brian I gotta tell you something though come here.” Brian and Cathy went over to the side. “The girl dressed as a baseball fan is Angela. She’s being a snob because she doesn’t trust Nick. Do something about it. She’s annoying.”

“No problem Cath. I call you to inform you on what happens.”

“Thanks.” Cathy walked away with a smirk of secrecy on her face.

Nick and Melanie were both serving the people on the other half of the restaurant so they were totally unaware of Angela. Angela could see them perfectly though. Every single time they’d pass each other, they’d smile, say something quietly, or even lightly bump into each other. A normal thing for friends right? That’s not what Angela was thinking. Jealousy is a common emotion for Angela and she believed it was clear flirtation.

Brian soon came back with her Hawaiian Punch. Angela didn’t even acknowledge he came by because she was so engrossed in starring at Nick and Melanie. Twenty minutes later Brian gave her the plate of spaghetti and still pretended he didn’t know it was Angela. He couldn’t actually do anything to Angela like Cathy had urged. He just went behind the counter and watched with anticipation on what this day might behold. There’s never an uneventful day when both twins are involved.

Melanie was passing by Angela’s table with a cleanup bin. Angela swung her arm and it hit her plate. The entire thing of spaghetti splattered to the floor right in from of Melanie. Angela jumped up shocked.

“Oh my gosh! Ma’am I’m sorry, let me clean this right up for you.” Melanie got down on her knees and started to through away the mess. Angela slowly sat down. When she had to turned her entire body to say something to Melanie, her wrist hit the glass of Punch and it spilled all over the table. It was towards the end of course so it poured off the side of the table, right onto Mel’s hair.

“Oops.” Angela smiled. Melanie stood up once she felt the substance pour down on her.

Melanie gasped. “Angela!”

“Yes? Oh and red looks really nice on you.”

“It’s just like you to stoop so low. I am NOT one of those poor souls you used to torture back in NYC! Not only do I pity your pathetic soul. I pity my own for just being related to you and have to put up with this insane nonsense. Now this is your mess and you work here, so you clean it up.” Melanie went directly to the back, looking down when she passed up Nick.

Meanwhile:
Nick was doing his own little thing. He walked up to Brian totally unaware of what could be happening in the restaurant. He sat next to Brian and wondered what he was looking at. He followed his gaze and watched as the whole propaganda took place. Angela knocked over her and was letting Melanie pick it all up with no care. Then Angela knocked over her drink and Nick’s eyes widen as he saw Melanie get up with Hawiian Punch dripping all over her. He then realized it was Angela when Melanie said it out loud. Nick of course didn’t see clearly as Brian saw it. Brian knew it had all happened on purpose by Angela. Once Melanie had passed them both Nick got up from his seat.

He walked towards Angela. “Nick! Oh Nick could you please help me clean up my mess? I’m just so clumsy!” Nick went and got the mop. “I know what you must be thinking. Why didn’t I go to work for myself today?” Nick knew very well that she was being snobbish but he didn’t care. She was gorgeous! He just let her continue and didn’t say a word. “Well the thing is that I was in so much pain this morning I didn’t know if I could make it through the day on my feet.” Nick smiled with sympathy. “I came here to eat, but instead I made a fool out of myself and knocked over my food. By the way, I don’t want another plate. I’ll just leave it on my tab.”

“Not a problem. I’ll call you later.” Nick took the mop and left once the floor was cleaned up.

Once Melanie got into the back she threw off her apron and ran into the bathroom. She looked into the mirror at her sticky hair. Her eyes got watery when she saw what the Punch had down to her beautiful long, light brown hair. Her hair went past her shoulders about 2 inches and from the top down to about a bit past her chin, it was now wet with redness. Melanie slid to the floor and started to cry into her hands. Half of her head was now red and she loved her brown, thick hair.

After about 15 minutes of that, she walked over to Tim and told him she had to go. He understood why because she didn’t look passable to serve the customers.
