Our
Mission

To develop and maintain a comprehensive emergency plan for the community. To receive information about accidental chemical releases. To annually update the information about chemicals stored or used by local facilities (through the collection of the Tier II reporting forms). To collect, manage and provide public access to information on hazardous chemicals in the area, as well as support the local fire department and emergency response teams. To educate the public about risks from accidental and routine releases of chemicals and work with facilities to minimize risks.

Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs) are appointed by the State Emergency Response Commissions (SERCs). LEPCs must consist of representatives of all of the following groups and organizations:

Elected and local officials, law enforcement, Emergency Management Agency, firefighting, first aid, health, local envoronmental and transportation agencies, hospitals, broadcast and print media, community groups and representatives of facilities subject to the emergency planning and community right-to-know requirements.
