Back Click - Bring one foot up to your bum and then quickly bring the other one up too. Do the click with your feet by your bum.
Box Step - This is a very old step that's hard to describe in writing. Go up on your right heel (click #1) and transfer your body weight onto it. Now go up on your left heel too (click #2). Now that you're standing on your heels, click the two toepieces together (click #3). Now put the right toe down (click #4) and the left toe down (click #5). Now you're standing up on your toes; click the heels together (click #6).
Double Click - Jump up in the air with your right in front. While in the air, bring the left to the front, and then bring the right back to the front before landing with both feet at the same time. As the feet pass each other, your heels should make two clicks. While in the air your feet should remain tight and pointed down.
Drum (also roll, Blackbird flick) - With your feet crossed, tap the toepiece of the front foot down (click #1) and then hit the heel of the front foot down (click #2). Now step back with the back foot to make a 3rd click. This step is always done travelling sideways.
Front Click - You do the same as you would in a front kick (see softshoe steps) except that you click your heels in midair. Make sure to turn your feet out to make the click easier, and focus on clicking the heels of the shoes, not your actual heels.
Half Click - Just like a front click except that after you make the click you do a cut with the foot that went up last.
Heel - With your foot flexed, place the heel piece down at the front.
Heel Click - With your feet in first position, go up on your toes and click your heels together.
Hop Up (also jump up) - Hop up into the air and hit your bum with your heels.
Push-up - Like a front click except that after you do the click, the leg that went up first keeps going up while the one that went up second goes back down.
Single Click - With the right foot in front, hop up and bring the left to the front before landing. Click the heels as the feet pass by each other. Keep the toes pointed down while in the air.
Stamp (also stomp) - Slam your whole foot down to make one loud click.
Tip Step (also brush step) - Brush out with the front foot (slick #1) and place it back down at the front (click #2). Now bring the back foot up to your bum and place it down (click #3).
Toe - Point your foot and hit the floor with the toe piece behind you.
Toe Stand - Go up en pointe (like a ballet dancer would) by balancing yourself on the toe pieces of your hardshoes.
Toe Stand Rocks - Go up en pointe and then rock; swing your ankles from side to side. Only attempt this step if you're a champion dancer.
Treble (also batter, rally, emerly, shuffle) - The foundation for hardshoe dance. Brush out with one foot (click #1), then brush back (click #2) and place the foot down in front (click #3).
Treble-hop-back (also shuffle-hop-back, batter-hop-back, rally-hop-back) - Do a treble (2 clicks) then hop on the weightbearing foot (click #3) while bringing the foot you did the treble with up to your bum. Now place the foot you did the treble with down at the back (click #4).
Treble-hop-back-toe - Do a treble-hop-back but before you place the trebling foot down at the back, hit the toepiece down so you get 5 clicks total.
