Red Rage News & Notes
May 28, 2000

Border War
June is upon us and with it comes the annual Border War between Kentucky and Tennessee. The game will be played June 23 at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.

Here’s the list of new Cardinals that will be suiting up for the Bluegrass State:

Buster Ashley – Owensboro
Ray Childs – Nelson County
Josh Cozart – Crittenden County
J.T. Haskins – Bryan Station
Jesse McGowan – Union County
Ed Robinson – Fairdale

Red Rage will be on hand and will provide a full report of the game.

Preseason Power Ratings
Red Rage is uncovering all sorts of meaningless preseason polls and ratings that begin popping up as we head into the summer months. While some of the preseason polls will be posted on Red Rage, there just isn’t enough space to post all of the computer ratings, so we are compiling them into one simple poll, combining all ratings. How clever! By the way, just how do they come up with power ratings prior to anyone taking the field? Anyway, here’s how the Cards, as well as all C-USA schools and others of interest stand entering June:

Recruiting Period Ends
Coaches around the country are finishing up with their allotted days in the May recruiting period. During the month of May, coaches are permitted to visit high schools, meet with principals, teachers, coaches, and counselors, visit athletic combines, and evaluate athletic competition, such as spring football practice, baseball games, track meets, etc.

Now, the coaches will compile their information and also begin preparing for the summer camps, which start on June 7.
