"Who are you?" Aurora asked the old man who stood before her. It was well after breakfast and Aurora sat
in her throne very unsure of herself.

"Don't you remember me Aurora? The captain had told me you had a slight memory loss after bumping your head, but I thought surely you'd remember me."

"I'm really sorry, but I don't"

"I'm Thomas. I've known you since you were born."

"Oh. So are you like my right hand man?" He laughed, his old face wrinkling.

"You might say so."

"Can you tell me if I'm the only one around, and I seem to be, why I'm not a queen, only a princess?" He laughed,

"Silly, you have to be MARRIED in order to become a queen. And Prince Derek does keep asking for your hand...I wish the day I see you married." Aurora laughed and leaned her chin into her palm
"So my parents keep telling me."

"Your parents princess?" The old man's face showed surprise. "Your parents aren't alive."

"What? Oh of course, I just mean well never mind."

"You still talk to them? I think that's wonderful. I remember them so proud of you when they were alive."
Aurora only smiled. The doors flew open and a guard entered. Thomas backed away from the throne and the guard approached bowing when he reached the steps to the platform on which Aurora sat.

"Your highness. We have the prisoner you requested two days afor."

"Prisoner? I didn't request a prisoner."

"Two days a for your majesty." The guard answered before beckoning for the prisoner to be let in. Two
guards brought in a poor looking man dressed in rags.  They put two hands on his back forcing him to bow.  Aurora stood.

"What has this man done?"

"He was caught hunting deer in the royal court."

"So?"

"So? Your majesty, that is a serious offense. The penalty is that his index fingers be cut off and he is to be thrown in a pot of hot tar."

"Please your majesty-" The prisoner began.

"Silence you infidel!" One of the guards kicked him and he was quiet.

"Hey! Don't do that! Let the man speak!" She sat back down. The prisoner spoke again,

"Please your majesty. I didn't want to, I was forced to. There isn't any hunt in the woods anymore. I have to feed my family. Please."

"Don't worry. Nothing's going to happen to you." Aurora said to the man before turning to the guard.
"I want you to let this man go and give him some money." The guards eyes widened.

"But Your Majesty!"

"Hey! Who's the Princess around here? I said let him go. And we're going to make some serious changes around her. My first order of business if going to be to retract that morbid hunting law." The guard bowed.

"Yes your Majesty" He followed the other guards out as the prisoner continued to thank Aurora as he was ushered out.

"That was very kind of you Aurora." Thomas said to her.

"Who made these laws? The penalties are so harsh."

"I believe it was William IV, may he rest in peace, your grandfather, who made most of them. But just between you and me, I always thought they were too harsh also."

"Then why didn't you ever say anything?" Thomas gave her a strange look,

"Princess, it would not be right for me to criticize the laws made unless the ruler felt the same way." Aurora tried to imagine not being able to speak her mind whenever she felt like it. The picture she got was not pretty.  Her thoughts were interrupted by the door opening, and a servant entering.

"AJ McLean wishes to see you your highness."

"Of course. Send him in" The servant nodded, bowed and left. A moment later AJ walked in and walked up to Aurora. Aurora turned to Thomas,

"Thomas, could you leave us alone?"

"Of course princess." He bowed and walked out. Aurora stood up.

"Enjoying your day as commander and chief of a kingdom?"

"Not really. These laws are revolting. Anyway, I just wanna go home. I wish we could."

"I know. They want to teach me to hunt. I don't think so." Aurora laughed.

"Hey, I just spent my morning springing prisoners who were innocent to begin with."

"So, what are we supposed to do the rest of the day?" Aurora wrinkled her nose. "I think I'm supposed to embroider or something. I heard somebody mention that.  Ugh. I can't sew." AJ laughing, said in a funny British accent,

"Do you think we'll have to drink tea the proper way?"

"I don't even drink tea"

"Hey, I just thought of something!"

"Huh?"

"If we're here...then who's back in LA at the video shoot?"

"Uh-I don't know if anyone IS back at the shoot."

"Shit! They must be going crazy looking for us!" Aurora just shrugged.

"Maybe"

"Maybe?! What do you mean maybe? Of course they are!  We're stuck here because of your little friend and you don't even seem to care!!!"

"Excuse me but he's not my little friend. He just showed up one day and poof! Here we are! SO DO NOT BLAME ME!!" Aurora shouted back at him equally as loud as he had at her.

"I will blame you! If you hadn't come along none of this would've happened!" Aurora was hurt by AJ's sudden comment.

"Fine then! Maybe it would just be better if we had never met!"

"Aurora, I didn't mean that."

"Then why'd you say it?"

"I was angry!"

"You wouldn't have said it if you didn't mean it! Just stay away from me!" The guards had come in at that moment because of all the yelling. Aurora noticed them and ordered. "Just-Just remove him from my sight!"

"Oh real mature Aurora! That's right! I think this princess thing is going to your head!" AJ yelled as he was taken away. Aurora fell back into her chair when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to find
Thomas. Sighing she said,

"I just can't get along with him! He makes me so mad!"

"Maybe it's because you love him" Thomas said gently.

"I don't love him! He insulted me! I can't love a man I hate that much."

"Oh, you don't hate him Aurora, you only think you do.  Soon. Soon you will realize."

"Realize what?"

"You'll understand soon. Then you'll know what I mean." Aurora groaned.

"What else am I supposed to do today?"

"It's almost time for tea."

"I don't like tea!"

"Since when?"

"Since, since...oh I don't know. Will I have to see AJ?"

"The guards will take him to the dungeon will he will most likely remain."

"Good. Serves him right."
