Friends

When Aurora opened the door to her dressing room, she was immediately greeted by the smell of a dozen roses.  She smiled and wondered who they could be from.  Closing the door she looked to see if there was a card. Indeed there was.

Aurora,
I'm not very good at these things, but I'd be honored if you'd join me for dinner tonight.  If your answer is yes, come to my dressing room.  If you don't want to, don't come.  I hope you do though.
Love, Brian

Aurora put the card down and inhaled the scent of the flowers. She got up and went to Brian's room. Gently, she knocked on the door.... ....

"NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!" Mark almost screamed as he hit his head softly against the wall. "Not Aurora and Brian!  Aurora and AJ! This is impossible! Why me? Why can't we use love spells up here? It'd be so much easier with a love spell! I'll never get my wings at this rate! I'll be a wingless angel for all eternity! Let me see what the manual says about this..." Mark searched around his desk until he found a hard cover book titled simply, "Manual". He blew the dust off it and opened to a random page. "Hey, I didn't know I could do that!" He said as he read a section on creating magic to temper with the surroundings of the two people. "Now all they have to do is go out on a date. But I can help with that..."

"Aurora!" Aurora turned around and came face to face with AJ.

"Oh. What do you want?" He looked a bit hurt.

"I just wanted to say that I'm really, really, really sorry for the way we started off. We were both grouchy I guess...and then this morning we were going on about two hours of sleep. I just wanted to give you these in hopes of a truce and to ask you to dinner tomorrow night so we can continue peace talks." AJ extended an arm he had brought out from behind his back. In his hand were lilacs. Aurora's eyes widened.

"Lilac's?"

"Yeah. Hope you're not allergic. You're not are you?"  She laughed for the first time since she had been around him. She felt really weird, like a strange force or something had come over her. There was a strange voice in her head, which she thought was telling her to welcome AJ into her life. Great, I'm hearing voices, she thought. But the feeling came over her again, and she replied smiling

"No! It's just that they're my favorite! And sure, I'll go to dinner with you...as long as we don't fight. I think that maybe we just needed that break to cool down."

"Yeah I guess. So hey, how 'bout we go to dinner, then go clubbing? That okay?"

"Fine by me." "Okay. Before we leave, why don't you give me your room number."

"Ok. So we're friends?"

"Yeah. Friends" AJ said as he shook her hand.

“I think now our scenes will have just a bit more love!  I do have to admit, you are an excellent actress!"

"Thanks!" Aurora laughed.... Mark stopped banging his head,

"Dinner? Dinner? YES!!!!YESSSS!!!!!!!" He began jumping up and down and was suddenly glad he had a private office. He began kissing his computer. "ITWORKED!!! Now I just have to make sure their date tomorrow goes perfectly. Until then...I think I'll catch just...a few...winks" Mark curled up on the sofa
and fell asleep...

....The next day Aurora went to Brian's dressing room before they started shooting for the day. When he called for her to enter, she slid in carefully.

"Hey Aurora!" He said cheerfully as he watched her walk across the room to him. He couldn't take his eyes off those legs. When she was close enough, he gave her a kiss on the cheek. Surprisingly, she pulled away from him.

"Brian, listen. I had a REALLY great time last night.  Believe me-no one has treated me that nicely in longtime. And you are a REALLY GREAT kisser."

"But..." Brian looked down. He knew what was coming.   Brian I just wanna be friends. He could hear it already.

"But...I don't know. I have this really strange feeling...like this isn't right for some reason. I can't explain it and you're probably going to think I'm crazy; but see there's this voice that keeps telling me these things and I get these strange feelings. I'm just really confused and under a lot of stress right now and would really appreciate it if we could just cool it for awhile."

"Wow. Really, Aurora? I haven't heard that one in awhile. The voices in your head was a nice touch." Brian said obviously hurt and upset.

"Brian Please. I'm trying to be as nice as possible. I really do like you. And maybe in a little while...we could get together again. But right now...I just don't know...I'm sorry...."

"You like me, but you want AJ"

"WHAT?!" She couldn't believe what he had just said.

"That's right. Come on Aurora! You could cut the sexual tension between the two of you with a knife! I saw it the first day, you two were meant to be together. You're both bull headed and refuse to take no for an answer, and you always seem to get what you want. So, fine. Go be with AJ." Brian yelled at her. He couldn't believe what had just come out of his mouth.   He noticed the look on Aurora's face and instantly regretted what he had said. "Oh god Aurora. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to… it just came out."

"Good bye Brian." She said before stalking out of the room in a huff.

"Hey, what's wrong?" AJ said as he saw Aurora storm out of Brian's dressing room.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" She yelled as she pushed past him.  Confused, AJ went into Brian's room. He found Brian sitting with his head in his hands.

"Hey man. Wanna talk about it?"

"I can't just...she's just..."

"She's just being Aurora." AJ laughed.

"Yeah. Maybe. Anyway let's just get this shoot over with. I'm beginning to get sick of this song."

"Brian get sick of 'Don't Leave Me'? I thought I'd never live to see the day."

"Doesn't our music really get to you sometimes?"

AJ shrugged, "Sometimes..." He walked out of the room and went to the set. He found Aurora getting a touchup on her make up. "Hey. What was that all about."

"I'm just not in a good mood okay? Live with it."

"Aurora, Brian's my friend and I don't want to see him get hurt. I think he really likes you and you're playing with his emotions. It's not very nice."

"I never said I was a very nice person. And who are you to judge anyway? You don't even know what
happened, SO BUTT OUT AJ!" She jumped off the chair and pushed past him to go to her dressing room.

"Oh, this does not look good. Not at all." Mark said as he paced back and forth in front of his desk. "I'm
going to have to ensure that that girl is a bit nicer." Mark went to his computer and sat down. He typed in number combinations and pass codes. He smiled as he slowly disappeared from his chair. Mark reappeared in the room.

"What the hell?" She said looking up from the magazine she was reading.

"Hello Aurora."

"Do I KNOW you?"

"No. Not really."

"Well then who are you and what are you doing in my dressing room?" She demanded.

"I'm kind of like your guardian angel. I'm here to help you out." She snorted,

"YOU'RE my guardian angel? No wonder I'm so messed up.  What's wrong, couldn't you find a robe that fits? Oris the baggy lookin up in heaven."

"You've got be a little nicer Aurora."

"So they tell me"

"You're making my job very difficult."

"Wait. You actually expect me to believe that you're an angel? Where's your wings?"

"My wings are on back order." Mark said sarcastically.  Aurora only rolled her eyes. "Look. You know those feeling that you've been having the past couple of days, I caused them."

"How did you know about that? You caused me to hurt Brian?" "

Well I don't LIKE to play with emotions...but I had to do something."

"Do something? Why is it so bad if I'm with Brian?"

"Because he's not the one for you. Just trust me on this. And please try to help me out on this one. Just go with AJ tonight and I promise you an evening you won't forget." Aurora looked away in disgust.

"Do you know how many guys have promised me an evening I won't forget? Please."

"I need to earn my wings and I can only do that with your help. Please." Aurora rolled her eyes and paused
for a minute. She looked at Mark.

"I better get a good seat reserved in Heaven...what's your name again?"

"Mark. And believe me Aurora, you're going to be very happy very soon."

"I haven't been happy in a long time, and if you're really my guardian angel you'd know that." She remarked, still unconvinced.

"You'll be happy again. I promise you that."

"Yeah yeah" But when she looked up again, Mark was gone.

"I must be losing it. Too much work and not enough sleep. Guardian angel, ha!"

"Be Happy Aurora" Came Mark's voice.

"Alright already! Sheesh!" She said before walking back out to join AJ on the set.

"Hey, you look a little upset."

"Yeah, sorry, I just um had a holy experience."

"Care to share?"

"No."

"Alright...well are we still on for tonight?" "

Yeah. I just don't wanna stay out too late. I need to get some extra sleep." AJ shrugged,

"Yeah, whatever."
