Arising Conflicts

Grace Moorly rubbed her eyes and stared at the paper.  Had she just imagined that those words had just rearranged themselves before her very eyes? A minute ago that paper containing her best client's schedule had been filled with fashion shows and photo shoots for the next two weeks. Now it was filled with a shoot for a new music video???? What the hell? She thought.  "I need a vacation"

"Join the club" Dean said as he poured her a cup of coffee.

"Wha-oh" She said looking up. She hadn't realized Dean was there

"Thanks."

"Trouble in paradise?"

"Nah, I'm just seeing things...that's all." He laughed,

"Oh, is that all. Well I hope you don't need glasses.   You have such pretty eyes."

"I'm a married woman Dean." Grace said laughing.

"Hey, a guy can try can't he? I'll see ya later Grace"

"Okay, bye." Her smile eventually faded. Sighing, she picked up telephone and dialed Aurora Jackson-her best and favorite agentee.

"Hello?"

"Hello Lisa. Is Aurora there?" Grace smiled at Lisa's always perky voice.

"Hey Grace. What's up?" asked Aurora when she came to the phone.

"Well apparently your schedule."

"Aren't I doing photo shoots all week?"

"You were. Now you're doing a music video for the Backstreet Boys. Pack up because you catch a plane tonight for L.A."

"Oh, well ok. I'll come over and pick up my plane ticket and instructions. What time is the flight for?"

"Seven."

"Okay. I'll be over around six thirty then."

"Okay. I'll see you then." Aurora hung up the phone and sighed. She hates shooting music videos.
Especially for bands whom she didn't even know what they sang. Backstreet Boys? Sounds like one of those gay boy bands. Great. I get to spend my week with a male version of the Spice Girls, she thought.

"Hey Rory, are you leavin' tonight?" asked Lisa in her New York accent.

"Yeah, Lis, I'm going to L.A. to shoot a video for the
Backstreet Boys."

"Backstreet Boys? Who're they?"

"Some band. I don't know. I gotta go pack though." Aurora rubbed her temples as she walked down the hall to her bed room.

"So when are you leaving for London?" She called down the hall to Lisa.

"Day after tomorrow!" She called back. After about fifteen minutes Aurora came out with her suitcase and carry on luggage.

"I'm gonna leave now. I have to go to the drug store and swing by the agency."

"A'right.  Gimme a call when you get there."

"Will do. I'll see ya when you get back from London."

"Yeah. Bye Rory."

"Bye Lis" Aurora said as she headed out the door.  After going to the drugstore, she went over to the agency where Grace gave her an envelope. Aurora slept most of the way from New York to LA. When she got there, she tiredly got into the limo that had been arranged to pick her up and bring her to her hotel.  Inside, she called Lisa and poured herself a drink.  When she finally got to the hotel it was around three in the morning. After checking in, she stumbled over someone while going to the elevator.

"Hey, Watch it!" a very grouchy male voice said.   Aurora stood up and crossed her brows in anger.

"You watch it! It was YOUR big feet I tripped over!"

"Well if you had been watching where you were going, you wouldn't have tripped over my big feet, now would you?!"

"Oh yeah! Well if you had just flown in from New York you'd be a little tired too!"

"I HAVE just flown in from New York!"

"Well then you know what I'm talking about!" By now the two had raised their voices and were attracting the attention of the people in the lobby.

"You two are going to have to either stop yelling or leave" A security guard said.

"FINE!" The two said in unison as the elevator door opened. The guy got in and demanded,

"Well do you want me to hold the elevator for you or what?" Aurora crossed her arms and turned up her nose,

"No thank you! I'll just wait for the next one!"

"Fine then! Have it your way!" He said as he let the doors slide shut. Aurora cursed him to herself and waited for another elevator to come. When it finally did, she went in and went up to her room to crash on the bed with out changing or unpacking. Aurora awoke the next morning to the sound of the phone ringing.   She rolled over and looked at the clock. 5 am wake up call, she thought picking up the phone. When there  corded message started she hung up. Groaning, Aurora turned on the light and blinked spots away. She
dragged herself into the bathroom to shower and get ready. She left her room around five-forty five and got in the elevator.

"So we meet again" A familiar male voice grumbled.

"Just shut up" She muttered annoyed. He gave her an evil look, but didn't say anything. When they got out of the elevator, the guy went over to a group of other guys and Aurora went out to her waiting limo. Aurora entered a conference type room at the warehouse where they were filming the video. Four other models were in there with the director. Aurora sat down at the table next to a pretty blond named Alison and they immediately began chatting it up. Aurora was so engrossed in her conversation with Alison that she didn't notice the five guys that came in until the director spoke.

"Alright people. First I'm going to pair you up then I'll explain the layouts." He glanced around the table and pointed as he said each name. "Jenny, you're with Kevin. Wendi and Brian, you're together. Howie  and Uma.  Alison and Nick. And AJ , you'll be working with Aurora." Aurora looked around the table for the first time to see who she was paired with. Her eyes met AJ's at the same time his met her. They both jumped up and at the same time yelled,

"YOU!"

"Do you know each other?" Nick asked. Aurora replied

"No"

"Not personally" AJ said right after her. "I can not work with her!" AJ said to the director.

"Me?! What about you? I'll probably trip all over your big stupid feet! I'm concerned for my own safety!"

"It's not MY FAULT my feet are big!"

"Yes it is."

"Shut up the both of you! I DON'T want to hear it!" The director yelled. "You're going to work together, and you're going to get along!" Aurora and AJ sat back down grumbling.

"Oh this is going to be fun" Brian commented sarcastically.

"Oh great! They hate each other!" Mark complained as he fell back into his chair. He buried his head in his hands, "It was going so perfect...how can they hate each other? Maybe Gina messed up...those two can't stand the sight of each other . There's no way they can be soul mates!" He groaned knowing that he'd have to get them to like each other somehow. "Looks like I've got my work cut out for me." He turned back to the TV screen to watch them as they did their scenes together... ...AJ held Aurora as they pretended to be in love with one another. As soon as the director called cut, they were at it again.

"Get your hand off my boob"

"My hand wasn't on your boob."

"Yes it was. God, is it lunch time yet?"

"Yes, thank God! Just knowing that I get a break from you for an hour and a half makes me one of the happiest men alive."

"Yeah, well maybe I'll get my appetite back if I don't have to stare at you"

"pssht, I thought models didn't eat"

"Shut up! What do YOU know anyway!" With that Aurora stalked off the set to find Alison. "Hey Alison!" She called out seeing Alison and Nick joking around on their set.

"Oh Hey Aurora" Alison said looking up

"Hey Aurora" echoed Nick. Aurora smiled,

"Hey. Alison, You wanna go to Starbucks for lunch?"

"Yeah sure! I'll see you later Nick"

"Okay. Bye guys!" Nick called. They smiled and waved at him. Once they were seated at a table in Starbucks, Alison asked,

"So how's it going with AJ?"

"Ugh! Please don't even start! I can't stand him!"

"Why not? I don't understand what your problem with him is" Aurora related the events that had occurred earlier in the morning when she had arrived at the hotel.

"Oh. Sounds to me like you guys just got off on the wrong foot. That sucks. Well at least after Friday you'll never have to see him again."

"Yeah, but Friday is five days away. So how are things with Nick? You guys look like you were having a good time."

"Yeah! Nick's a great guy! He's really funny and nice.  I think we'll stay friends after this." "That's cool.  He seems like a great guy."

"I guess. He's adorable I think."

"Know who I think is adorable? Don't say anything, but that Brian guy, now I wouldn't mind gettin' some of that!" They giggled.

"I won't say nothin'! Your secret is safe with me!" They continued giggling.

"Yo bone man, what's eating you?" Kevin asked as him, Brian, AJ, Nick, and Howie sat down at a table to eat their food.

"What do you think?"

"He talking about that chick he's in the video with?" Asked Brian.

"Yeah I'm talking about that chick. She's so god damn stubborn and strong headed! I can't stand her! She argues with me about everything!"

"Great, so if you don't like her, then you won't mind me asking her to a movie?" asked Brian hopefully. AJ
just replied

"Hey, it's your misery"

"You gotta try and get along with her man." Howie urged.

"I've tried, believe me. I've tried. But she always ends up yelling at me. She's such a spoiled little brat!"

"Okay, calm down. Just go up to her and say that you started off bad, and you want to forget about that and start over."

"I can't believe YOU'RE give ME woman advice." muttered AJ.

"Hey," Howie put up his arms in defense. "Either take it or leave it. But if you leave it, I can guarantee you're going to be miserable the next five days."

"It better work. Hey, I've got an idea!" AJ exclaimed jumping up and rushing out of the room.

"Wonder where he's going" Kevin said. Brian shrugged his shoulders.
