Isabella looked in her mirror. "Oh, I'm old. I've been old. My good for nothing husband is old and lazy. There's not enough make up in the world to cure me!" She wailed as she collapsed into a fit of tears.
"Isabella? Oh Isabella what's wrong?" Monique asked rushing into the room.
"Oh Monique! You're my sister and I love you and you love me but I don't think anyone else does! My beauty is gone, my husband might as well be gone and I-I-" Isabella fell into another fit.
"Well
of course I love you! And Biannca does also. Isabella," Monique began
but Isabella was crying
horribly loud by now. Harder, Monique said, "Isabella!
Listen to me!"
Isabella instantly stopped her whimpering. "You have money correct? Justin doesn't know if you spend it or not he's too drunk to know he's alive most of the time. Now you are almost fifty dear, but there's this new thing called plastic surgery and it can make you look thirty."
"Oh Monique, I don't need surgery, I need a miracle!"
"Isabella, just-" Monique was interrupted by a sharp knock at the door.
"Lily!" Isabella called to her maid, "Get that for me!"
Lily re entered the room moments later to announce the caller. "A miss Alivia Johnson to see you ma'm"
Isabella turned to Monique as she wiped her eyes," Alivia? Alivia Johnson? Why I haven't seen her sinceJustin and I got married! Ha, seeing her will make me feel better I'm sure!" She laughed along with Monique. "Show her in Lily, show her in."
Isabella chucked, "This should be good."
Just then Alivia entered the room. Both Isabella and Monique gasped. Alivia was about thirty pounds lighter than when then had last seen her. She looked twenty rather than the fifty she should. Her tight skin and highlighted features stunned the two sisters. She moved with an elegance Isabella had never seen her move with.
"Isabella! How good it is to see you! I haven't seen you in so long!" Alivia opened her arms.
Still stunned, Isabella hugged her. "Yes, you too Alivia. You certainly look well."
"Oh
thank you. We have so much to catch up on Isabella!" Alivia laughed and
Isabella's stomach
turned. How could she possibly look like this?
It can't really be her, can it? She wasn't even this pretty when she was
twenty!
They
sat on the sofa. "You have such a pretty house Isabella. Quite large for
just you and Justin, but
then a man of his stature-"
"oh
about Justin, Alivia you know I never meant to take him from you? I mean,
you're my best friend, I could never hurt you intentionally in that way!"
"Aw
pish posh! Justin and you were just meant to be, that's all! I've moved
on and I forgive you" Her voice was filled with conviction.
"Oh good. Alivia, you remember my sister, Monique."
"Of course. How good to see you again Monique" Alivia shook her hand.
"Isabella? Who is here?" A voice asked from the doorway.
The three looked over to see Justin standing in the doorway. He looked older then he really was and had a beer belly now. Alivia sized him up, look what she's done to him. It makes me want to throw up.
"Oh Justin honey!" Isabella jumped up, "It's Alivia Johnson!"
"Alivia?" Justin's eyes went wide as he stared at his ex-girlfriend. She was not the girl he once knew, she was the most beautiful thing he had seen. He looked over at his wife. What a mess she was. Old and starting to go gray. He could kick himself for not staying with Alivia.
"Yes Justin, it's me. Gosh, I haven't seen you in so long" She said with a hint of sarcasm in her voice and a fake smile. She gave him a whole-hearted hug. "It's so nice to see you and Isabella are doing so well."
"Yes, well we try."
"Oh well I'm sorry I can't stay longer, but I really must be going."
"Oh now, you can stay longer Alivia dear. We haven't seen you in what, twenty-twenty five years now! And my have you changed since then! At least stay for dinner."
"Oh I really can't. I have a prior engagement." She lied.
"Well
then you must be going, I don't want to keep you from anything. But do
feel free to stop by
anytime. In fact, why don't we go out for dinner
next week? Give me a ring and we'll make plans dear!"
"Alright.
I'll see you then" Alivia said as she went out the door and breathed the
air of satisfaction. Her
second step of her revenge had been put into
play. They had seen her. Now she'd go for the biggie next week at
dinner. The third step in her plan, to simply get Isabella Blake out of
her life forever.
Justin went back upstairs after Alivia had left. As soon as Justin was upstairs, Isabella began with her crying again. Monique tried to comfort her, "Oh Isabella do stop crying! I can't take you like this. Listen, I have this friend who works with natural healing medicines-"
"You mean a which doctor."
Monique cocked her head to the side, "Um, not exactly. But I told her about how you, well the three of us actually, would sell our souls to be young and beautiful again. So she gave me the name of a lady who she says can help us."
"Is she a miracle worker? A saint? A which?"
"I don't believe she's any of those. I believe she's just a very rich lady."
"So what? I'm a very rich lady and it hasn't helped me much? Just look at me!"
"Isabella compose yourself!" Monique said harshly. Then her tone softened. "I say the three of us, you, me, and Biannca just go see this lady and what she can do for us. What have we got to loose?"
"Ok, I suppose. When do you want to go?"
"Now.
She receives callers night and day. Let's go get Biannca."
The three women stood in front of a tall, immense building. Isabella who was afraid herself said to Monique, "Well what are you waiting for? Knock already!"
"I'm not gonna knock! You knock!"
"You!"
Biannca rolled her eyes, "I'll knock."
Just as she was about to raise the heavy knocker, the door swung open. The three smiled as they looked the devilishly handsome butler over.
"Do come in" He gestured for them to enter and the three did. "Miss Claudia has been expecting you."
"Really?" Isabella turned to Monique, "Monique, did you call ahead?"
"No, I didn't."
He chuckled, "Follow me."
He took them through the house and into a back hallway where he left them. The three barely had time to look around them before an elegant women in her later twenties appeared before them. "Ladies, how good of you to come. I'm Claudia"
"Hi, I'm Isabella, that's Monique and Biannca. Now what exactly are we doing here?" Isabella demanded.
At
first Claudia seemed annoyed with Isabella's straightforwardness. But she
smiled and said, "How
good, you Isabella with be perfect for my little
society. We're very select you know, and you seem to
know just what you want."
"Yes I do. I want to-"
"Be young, vibrant, and beautiful" Claudia cut her off and smiled. "Everyone who comes here does. Whether they do it by freewill or sub consciously." She looked at Biannca as she said it.
"Shall we continue?" Claudia asked as she looked at all three.
"Exactly what are you going to do to make us young, vibrant, and beautiful?" Monique asked trying to be polite but impatience showed in her voice.
"And how much is this going to cost?" Isabella asked.
Claudia
gave a little laugh, "To answer Monique's question, I'm simply going to
give you the gift of
life. That is if you want it. And you answer
your question Isabella, everyone comes with a different price, but for
sisters I'll give you a discount. Oh, and you won't have to sell your souls."
She threw Isabella a glance. Isabella's features were full
of surprise.
"We'll
discuss price after you are all satisfied customers. Everyone who comes
here is a satisfied
customer." Claudia looked over at Biannca who
had not said a word to her all night, "What's wrong Biannca dear? Don't
you have anything to say? You're sisters are quite the chatty ones?"
"I prefer to observe, if I may miss."
"Of course. Now, follow me." Claudia led the three into the windowless room. She found the golden goblet and drew water from the fountain. With a wicked smile she nearly yelled, "Now, each of you drink from this fountain of youth and be eternally young."
Isabella
was the first to drink. She passed the goblet to Monique who drank and
passed it to Biannca.
Biannca drank the last of it. The sisters turned
to look at each other as they began to feel queasy. They stared at each
other as their appearance began to get younger, fresher, and full of life.
As their age began to decrease, Claudia explained to them the experiences that were happening. "You see, agents in the water are reversing your aging chemicals in your body. When it's done working, you'll look twenty again. Now, and forever. You can never age."
The
three sisters smiled at each other.
Isabella slammed her front door shut. She couldn't take her eyes off herself, she looked so great! There seemed to be an all around glow to her new appearance. It only cost her money, something that she could get back. She went upstairs to look for Justin. She passed the maid on her way.
"Oh Lily, have you seen my husband?"
"He's up in his office miss."
"Thank
you" Isabella stormed into Justin's office. She found him slumped
over the desk, a bottle of
whisky in his hand. Isabella calmly went over
to him.
"Dumb thing has finally drunk himself into a coma." She said as she checked his neck for a pulse. Her eyes widened when she didn't find one. She pulled him up to see his eyes rolled back into his head. "Check that. He finally drunk himself to death."
She
reached for the phone and called Biannca explaining to her how she had
found Justin. When she
hung up with Biannca, Isabella walked out of
the office like she hadn't seen anything. She went to her
room and began packing.
Alivia called at the Blake residence early the next afternoon. She had plans to seduce Justin. She figured on killing him also. After all, it takes two to get married and Justin sure as hell hadn't gone in on it by force. Upon arriving at the door she found the maid who looked like a haggard mess.
Hurriedly,
the maid explained to Alivia, "So you see miss, Mrs. Blake left late last
night. I don't' know
where she went to or when she'll be back. She
didn't leave anything I could use to contact her and let her
know that Mr. Blake has passed away" Alivia stood
there stone cold for a moment. How could she do this? Isabella always had
to ruin her plans. Now she couldn't even kill her! And Justin was
dead, but she didn't even have the satisfaction of doing it herself. She
figured Isabella wouldn't be back. Aliva left the residence in a great
sulk and huff thinking, at least I've gotten rid of the bitch.
