OUR REWARD
Re 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Have you thought about what your reward will be when Jesus Christ comes?
Most people do think about it and they believe that it is jewels for the crown that they will lay at Jesus feet.
Well stop and think about that for a moment; Jesus bringing the jewels for the crowns that will be given to Himself.
Some say that the reward is based upon the works that they have done, well I do not feel that is the case, for instance lets look at the talents parable for an example.
They were given money not to keep but to earn more with to give back with interest.
They kept none of the money now if it was based upon their works they would have received something here now what they were given was a mission to complete, a job to do, a position of financier for example.
They think that it is according to your works based on it saying every man according as his work shall be, now lets examine these words closely and see just what is being said here:
"To give every man according as his work shall be".
now it did not say "TO" his work ,comparing the weight of the reward against the work he has done,it said "as" his work shall be and He stated "Shall be" meaning futuristic,yet to come.
What is He saying here you ask?
Very simple He is saying that when He comes, He has our reward with Him and that it is the work that will be doing, the reward is our position,our jobs in the kingdom of God that is why He said according AS his work SHALL be.
How can that be you say, there is no need for jobs then?
Oh yes my friend there is, Isaiah clearly tells us that we will build houses and inhabit them,we will plant vineyards and eat of the fruit of them.
Isaiah chapter 65 verse 21 explains this to us and verse 17 clearly explains the time because it is speaking of a new earth and a new heaven so there is no doubt as to the time.
Isa 65:17
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
Isa 65:21
And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them.
Isa 65:22
They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
Now I want you to imagine for just a moment a kings palace or castle with all of its staff.
It takes all sorts of positions to run that palace, Chefs, Waiters\Servers, Chamber Maids, Grounds keepers, Plumbers, Electricians, Laundry service, Financiers\Bookkeepers etc.
Now picture the people in these positions not doing their jobs. What do you see?
I see a palace all run down, dirty linen strewn over the place, sink full of dirty dishes, nasty stagnate water standing in the shower room from backed up pipes, the grounds all grown over with weeds, light fixtures about to fall, no food in the pantry,
and my oh my' how dirty everyone looks because there is no way to shower and no clean clothes for them to wear,
the finances are now gone so everything is a shambles.
I see a run down,disorganized, ruined palace, and folks that is not what my Lord's kingdom will look like or be like.
It will be run smoothly and orderly.
The Plumber is just as important here as the Financier, because it takes all these things to keep things running properly.
There is no job of more importance than another in God's kingdom.
Now I believe these rewarded positions will be based upon our abilities and accomplishments here.
If we have an ability to do a job and do it not then no we will not be rewarded with that position based upon our ability alone.
I may have the ability to paint houses but for some reason cannot accomplish it, then that is not the job position for me,
so I will be placed in the position that I can accomplish my abilities.
I have the ability to write newsletters as God gives me the words, but if I were to set back and not write them then my accomplishment was nothing wasn't it.
He knows who is going to work and who is not so He will put us in the proper position,
It is based upon ability and accomplishment working together,one without the other does not work.
A real good example I paint picture of a wolf setting at the edge of the woods; now I have accomplished painting but I have no artist ability so what I have done is a mess. It takes both.
Our greatest reward through it all though is being with our Lord and saviour no matter what job we are doing.
When you read your bible don't just read it but study it, let each and every word soak into your heart.
Look carefully at every word to make sure of what it is saying irregardless of who says what.
Don't listen to what people says it means alone,
verify what they are saying by comparing it with the word of God.
Make sure what they are telling you is the truth so that you will not go through life being deceived,
and realize later on that it meant something totally opposite of what you were taught.
If you find that someone taught you some things wrong over the years,
then you are as much to blame as that person because you did not check to make sure it was the truth and just accepted what they said as being the truth instead.
It is so easy to lay the blame on other people when we are standing in the very same boat as they are.
Instead of rowing right along with them, stop the boat in the middle of the stream and say wait just a minute now is this what God is saying to us.
If you just go with the flow then when the boat turns over just remember you are in it too.
If my boat has a hole in it I am going to do two things, first I am going to try to fix the hole and if that fails then I am going to jump ship and find me another boat to get in.
Please read the word for yourself examining what people are telling you before just accepting it as truth.
