CLEANSED FOOD

I have heard a phrase used throughout my life that I had paid no attention to until recently.
That a sheet was let down to Peter with all different kinds of food on it that had been cleansed.
Well this statement was far from the truth; first of all it was not a sheet but a vessel like a sheet, being a sheet and being like a sheet are two different things altogether.
Secondly it was not about the food being cleansed, the food was used as a reference to different nations,
if you notice in the verses below that different fourfooted beasts, AND wild beasts AND creeping things AND fowls of the air are used.
All four categories were put into the same grouping for the sheer purpose of showing different types of beliefs.
Now the whole purpose of the Peter's vision was to prepare him for the household that he was being sent into.
They were of a different belief than he was as he states farther on in the verses.
When he sees that there are a number of people gathered together to hear his words, he tells them,
that they know it is an unlawful thing for a Jew to keep company or even go to one of a different nation.
However he continues on telling them that God had shown him not to call any man common or unclean.
this was shown to him with the vision.
He went on to say; when he realized what it was about that he perceives God is no respecter of person and that the ones in every nation that fears God and works righteousness is accepted.
Read the verses below very carefully and you will see this is the truth that I speak here.

Ac 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
Ac 10:12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Ac 10:13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
Ac 10:14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
Ac 10:15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
Ac 10:27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together.
Ac 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
Ac 10:29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?
Ac 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Ac 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Now there are places in the Bible dealing with food but it was based upon circumstances as you will see in the verses below and why.
The food was only cleansed for a specific purpose, the purpose of going to unbelievers homes,
because they ate foods that were not of the Jewish beliefs so God cleansed it during their stay in those homes so that they would not offend their host.
Now the only time they were not to do so was if the host specified that it was a food that was sacrificed to idols.
In that instance they were to not eat of it.
Now as I have clearly shown here in these verses, we have taken a lot out of context over the years and applied the wrong meaning to it.
If we are going to teach God's word, we had best be doing so correctly and put His truth to it and not what we want it to say.
As I have said before, I say again:
READ THE WORD FOR YOURSELF DON"T TAKE MANKINDS WORDS FOR THE GOSPEL TRUTH TILL YOU MAKE SURE IT IS GOD'S GOSPEL TRUTH.

Lu 10:8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
1Co 10:25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
1Co 10:26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.
1Co 10:27 If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
1Co 10:28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:
