After the Emperor rose to power, many rebellions occured. None of these had much power. But 3 people: Bel Ibis, Mon Mothma (the leader of the New Republic now), and Bail Organa (Leah's adopted father) united these Rebellions into one, the Rebel Alliance. Later, a while after the Emperor's death, the Rebel Alliance changed into a government, the New Republic. Now this still fragile government is being attacked by the brilliant Grand Admiral Thrawn. His attacks are strong and well-planned, and Thrawn appears to have a source of information from inside the palace...
Luke Skywalker- He was raised by Owen & Beru Lars on the dry deserts of Tatooine.
But later he discovered a secret message in one of his droids that led him to
Obi-Wan Kenobi, one of the few Jedi still alive. Obi-wan tought him in the Force
& sent him to the Jedi Master Yoda for more training. Later, after confronting
Vader, his true father, and the Emperor for the last time, he finally was a Jedi
Knight. He is known by many as the last of the Jedi, but as he trains Leia, his
sister, and as she awaits her twins' birth, he is known as the first in a long
awaited line of Jedi Knights! 
Han Solo- Han was a smuggler, but is now a retired New Republic General and
the husband of Leia Organa. He is a great leader and has great smuggling &
blasting skills. He flys his beloved "junkpile", the Millenium Falcon, [a modified
Corellian YT-1300 transport] along with his trusty friend & co-pilot Chewbacca.
He is pretty trustworthy, just don't trust him with any amount of money in a
casino! 
Leia Organa Solo- She is the brother of Luke Skywalker, wife of Han Solo, and
daughter of Dark Lord Darth Vader. What a family! She is strong, yet underdeveloped
with the Force. She is still in training and has two twins on the way. One day,
maybe she can become a Jedi Knight. 
Chewbacca- Chewbacca is a Wookie, a hairy tree-dwelling species from planet
Kashyyk. His weapon of choice is the bowcaster and he is a great mechanic and
pilot. His life was once saved by Han Solo, and so, according to Wookie culture,
he must defend that person with HIS life. Chewbacca is a great friend and co-pilot
to Han and has extended his life debt to include Leia and her children. 
Lando Calrissian- Lando was once the leader of a mining colony above planet Bespin
called Cloud City. But the Empire took control of it and so he created a new
mining colony called Nomad City. He is also a retired New Republic General who
gave Han the Millenium Falcon from losing a bet. 
Obi-wan Kenobi- Obi-wan was one of the last Jedi alive at the time of the
Emperor. He was one of the only ones who knew that Leia Organa & Luke Skywalker
were really the children of Darth Vader, not Owen Lars or Bail Organa. He trained
Luke in the Force and sacrificed himself to save Luke and his friends. 
Yoda- He was a great Jedi Master who tought Luke many things. He told Luke
about the Force, the Dark Side, and many other things. He lived 900 years and then
died of old age. His species is unknown. 
Wedge Antilles- He is a X-wing pilot of the highest quality. He is the leader
of Rogue Squadron and a hot-shot risktaker. He is also a good friend of Luke's
and has one of the best squadrons in the New Republic.
