Chubby Wise: the one who defined bluegrass fiddle; member of Monroe's Blue Grass Boys off and on from at least 1944 to 1949; later worked as a sideman for Hank Snow for nearly two decades. Much lamented, Chubby died on January 6, 1996. 
Kenny Baker: considered by many to be the dean of bluegrass fiddlers; harmonies and phrasing influenced by Texas swing but solidly bluegrass; member of Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in two main periods 1962-63 and then from 1968 onward. Kenny Baker died on July 8, 2011. 
Joe Stuart: played fiddle (or banjo or guitar or bass) off and on with the Blue Grass Boys over two or three decades;the only person to have played every one of the five basic bluegrass instruments in the Blue Grass Boys. 
Byron Berline: extremely skilled, tasteful, and versatile fiddler; one of the very best in bluegrass; origins in a Missouri (-Arkansas-Oklahoma) regional style, but proficient in Texas style and solidly at home in bluegrass; recorded an album with The Dillards; member of Monroe's Blue Grass Boys 1967; later formed Country Gazette; currently with BCH (Berline, Crary, Hickman).
Mac McGaha: long-time fiddler for Don Reno and Red Smiley; good, solid bluegrass and a delightful stage presence; when Reno & Smiley split up, McGaha joined Porter Wagoner's backup band.
Paul Warren: best known for work in the Foggy Mountain Boys; some consider Warren the best bluegrass fiddler.
 
Scotty Stoneman: considered by many the best fiddler ever to draw a bow; worked with Stoneman Family band(s), and others.
Laurie Lewis: now a popular bluegrass-country singer fronting her own, Grant Street, band; played fiddle or bass with several bluegrass groups, including the Blue Ridge Mountain Boys (1973). More about Laurie Lewis
Howdy Forrester: member of Monroe's Blue Grass Boys 1942 & '43 (and possibly at other times before and after those dates -- any additional information here would be welcome).
Chubby Anthony: solid bluegrass fiddler; played in a variety of bands, including a stint with the Lilly Brothers.
Jim Shumate: early member of Monroe's Blue Grass Boys (1945, but also an earlier stint?).
Art Wooten: early member of Monroe's Blue Grass Boys.
Jimmy Buchanan: popular bluegrass fiddler; best known for work with Jim and Jesse and later with the Greenbriar Boys; performed a superb concert with Red Allen in the San Francisco Bay Area late in Red Allen's career.
Johnny Warren: excellent fiddler; son of Paul Warren.
Jim Moss: tasteful bluegrass fiddler; California based. More about Jim Moss
"Tater" Tate: worked with Red Smiley's Bluegrass Cutups after Smiley split with Don Reno; best known for work with Shenandoah Valley Boys.
Randall Collins: best known for work with Curtis Blackwell.
Paul Shelasky: talented bluegrass fiddler known for his work with several bands in the San Francisco region.
Alison Krauss: popular bluegrass/newgrass/country singer and fiddler fronting her own band, Union Station. More about Alison Krauss.
Neil Rossi: better known in his early days as an old-time fiddler, but proficient at bluegrass; member of Blue Ridge Mountain Boys in the group's infancy; more recently part of Big Spike Bluegrass.
Gene Lowinger: excellent bluegrass fiddler; member of Monroe's Blue Grass Boys 1965; wrote book Bluegrass Fiddle for Oak Publications.
Erwin (sp?) Rouse: Florida-based fiddler; wrote "Orange Blossom Special".
Jesse McReynolds: better known as a mandolin player and singer, but not bad on a fiddle.
Bobby Osborne: better known as a mandolin player and singer, but not bad on a fiddle.
