McKennah stepped off the plane in Paris, France without knowing a soul. She gripped her backpack tighter as people swarmed around her trying to get to their destinations and speaking a foreign language....she didn't know where to begin.
McKennah stopped and looked around for something that looked like a baggage claim. She turned around in a circle, trying to figure out where she should be. Someone should be here waiting for her...yet, she didn't see anyone familar. Far in the distance, she finally spotted the baggage claim and started towards it. Justin was going to pay and he was going to pay big if no one ever came to pick her up. She would kick his ass all the way back to Orlando if she couldn't find him or anyone familar without having to call them. Here she was spending her Spring Break in a whole new country with a guy that seemed to care about her alot...and yet, she was all alone in some strange airport.
She finally found her things and pulled it off the rotating carousel. She then proceded to sit down on a nearby bench and wait.
And wait.
And wait.
And....wait.
By 4 o'clock she had been in the Paris airport for almost 2 hours and she was fuming. She finally found a payphone and stuck some change in it and dialed Justin's cell phone.
"Hello?"
"Where in the hell are you?!"
"McKennah??"
"Justin?," She mocked rolling her eyes while trying to keep an eye on her things beside her.
"Why aren't you here?"
"Umm...why aren't YOU here?"
"I'm at the venue."
She sighed, pressing a hand to her temple where a headache was forming, "Boy..I'm so going to kill you.."
"Where are you McKennah?"
"I'm at the airport stupid! I have been for 2 hours!!"
"Umm..Trey was supposed to meet you.."
"Who's Trey?"
"New security."
"Well he's not..I've been all over this stupid airport and haven't seen anyone."
"How long have you been there?"
"2 hours!"
"Shit...I'm so sorry McKennah...umm..hold on, I'll find out where he is and why you're not here..I'm so sorry."
"Better be."
"Hold on, ok?"
"Ok.."
She heard him set the phone down and walk off and heard a door close somewhere in the distance.
Minutes ticked by and Justin never picked the phone back up.
Then, someone hung it up.
Frustrated, McKennah slammed the phone down and groaned. She was in a strange country where she didn't know a person, didn't know the language, and had no clue how to get herself from the airport to where the guys were. She groaned outloud and reached in her pocket to find more change and put it in the phone once more and dialed his cell number again.
"Hello?"
"Damnit Justin, what the hell is going on over there!?"
"I'm sorry...Someone turned off my phone.."
"Well...what's going on?"
She heard him sigh, "Trey's no where to be found...."
"And?"
"Well....there's a problem...."
"What??"
"Well..ummm...ummm..."
"Justin Timberlake..."
"Don't growl at me."
"Tell me!"
"There's not enough security to spare...no one can leave and go pick you up...they're afraid something could happen to one of us."
"Oh what the hell ever! This is so not happening..I knew I shoulda stayed at home!"
"McKennah--"
She didn't want to cry but she could feel the lump forming in her throat and the tears begin to well up in her eyes, "Justin, I don't know speak a word of French, I don't know where I am....why is this happening??"
"I don't know..I'm so sorry Kennah.."
"Justin...why don't I just go home? This isn't going to work...we never should of planned this..I should of just waited for you to come home..."
"I wanted you here Kennah.."
"And look where it got us...me stuck in some strange airport!"
"How about you go catch a cab?"
"Okay genius, what's the name of the venue you're at?"
"Ummm...ummm..I dunno."
"I don't either. I'm catching a flight home Justin."
"But--"
"No buts, I'm going home."
"Wait! McKennah!"
"Justin...No."
A mechanical voice came over and in French, German, Spanish, then English it said, "To continue this call please deposit fifty francs."
McKennah reached into her pocket to find her change all gone. She had used it all. "Did you hear that Justin?"
"Yeah...put more change in."
"I don't have any!"
"What?!"
"I used all my change dumbass!"
"Shit..look, don't leave, I'll get there somehow."
"But you can't--," They were disconnected.
Justin heard a click and then silence, "Kennah??? McKennah!! Kennah! Don't leave! DAMNIT!"
He tossed his cell phone into his jacket pocket and found a hat to hide his hair and grabbed a pair of sunglasses. He poked his head out of the dressing room, no one in sight for once, and snuck out the back way.
He jumped about thirty feet when someone grabbed his shoulder, "Goin' somewhere Curly?"
"Aaaaahh..damn Dre!"
"Sneakin' out, huh?"
"Noo..what would give you that idea?"
The bigger man smiled, "The way you're creeping out of here...where you going?"
"McKennah's stuck at the airport, I can't let her leave!"
"You mean no one's picked that girl up yet??"
"No...we got cut off because she ran out of change. She's going to catch a flight home."
"Come back inside and let me call the airport.
Ten o'clock rolled around and McKennah was itching to go home. The next available flight back to the States was at midnight; two more hours. She had gotten a seat on the flight and was now waiting....waiting....waiting. She was getting so impatient.
Andre had found out what time the next flight back to the States was at midnight, which meant they had that much time to get to her without Justin missing the show. Justin performed the show with the other guys but was a tad bit distracted.
Right after the show, he showered and changed as quickly as he could and went with Andre and another bodyguard; Gary, in a van to the airport. 11:30 p.m.
Andre went with Justin after they parked into the airport. "What gate??"
"77 A."
"Sure?"
"Positive, I wrote it down."
Justin nodded, beginning to walk faster. 11:45. Fifteen minutes till she boarded.
They reached the gate, the whole airport practically deserted. A lone figure was seated in the orange seats that looked out onto the runway. Justin finally smiled, the worry lines disappearing from his face finally, and he walked over to her.
McKennah was stretched out in three seats, her bags sitting beside her as close as she could get them without having them sitting on her, her eyes closed as the jet lag finally caught up with her. Andre stayed a few feet away, not being able to hear what they were saying but watching the way Justin knelt down beside her.
He knelt down, seeing her eyes closed, and brushed a peice of hair from her face. She shifted and mumbled something. "Kennah??"
Her eyes shot open and and she jumped up, "Justin??"
"I told you I get to you.," He said smiling.
She punched his arm, "I got a flight back home."
"No you didn't, I canceled them."
"What?! Where's my money?"
"Back on your card...come on, let's go to the hotel."
He took her bags and grabbed her hand and walked over to Andre, who was waiting patiently for them. He smiled, taking the bag McKennah was holding, "I'm so sorry this happened McKennah, he was given a job and didn't do it.."
"It's okay..I guess.."
"Come on, I know you're tired."
She nodded, "Yeah..I'm exhausted."
Justin sat on the edge of her bed, watching her sleep. She looked so innocent and so cute sleeping.
Her eyes fluttered open and she stretched, almost cat-like, "Justin?"
"Hmm?"
"What are you doing up?"
"Can't sleep.."
"Get under the covers."
He pulled the covers up and slid under them. She slid closer to him for warmth, "I'm glad I stayed."
"Me too..," he said kissing her forehead.
"Why did you want me to come?"
"I missed you.."
"Mmm hmm..."
"I did," He replied snaking his arm around her waist to pull her closer.
"So..what do we tell the guys?"
"Bout us?"
"Uh huh..," She replied sleepily.
"don't know..."
"We dating?"
"Can you put up with me?"
"I have since we were 12 Justin."
He kissed her lips gently, "And I've known since then that I love you."
Smiling, sleepily, she snuggled into his arms, "Me too Justin...me too.."
