AJ arrived home a few short weeks later when LeighAnne finally went into labor and her and Brian had a healthy, baby boy. AJ pushed the door open, "Madalyn!"
He saw her feet at the stop of the stairs, "Yeah?"
"They had a boy!"
"Really? Wonderful!"
He grinned, "Brian is soooo excited, it's like SO not even funny."
She came down the stairs and into his arms, "That's great."
"First Backstreet baby."
"I know."
"Where's the kid at?"
"Out back."
"I'm gonna go tell him!," AJ said and started for the backdoor.
"How's LeighAnne?"
"She's doin' good."
"How much did the baby weigh?"
"Hell, Maddie, I don't know!"
She laughed, she had to guess that Brian was about 10 times more excited than AJ was. AJ was so excited, it almost seemed as if HE was the one becoming a father.
AJ came back into the house with Colin perched on his back, his arms wrapped around AJ's neck. "Hi mommy!"
"Hey sweetheart!"
AJ let him down, "I thought I'd take you two out for dinner."
"AJ..you don't have--"
He put a finger to her lips, "Shhh..I know I don't have to but I want to. So, go get changed little man and we'll go."
"Ok!," Colin exclaimed running for the stairs.
Madalyn turned to AJ, smiling, "You are going to spoil him."
"I know..can't help it."
Colin appeared not a few minutes later, dressed in clean clothes. AJ took Madalyn's hand and the three of them left the house.
"Where are you going?"
"I told you, over Kev's to work on a song."
"AJ..you promised this would be our night."
"I know baby..but we've gotta get this song done...we'll do it tomorrow.."
"Colin will be HERE tomorrow."
"During the day?"
Madalyn shrugged, "I don't know what time Lisa is going to bring him back over..I'm guessing sometime in the early afternoon."
AJ sighed, looking at his watch, he had to get to Kevins' soon, "Ok..here's what I'll do..I'll go over to Kev's for a couple hours AT the most, I'll be back pretty early..we'll spend the rest of the night and tomorrow together."
Madalyn was silent for a moment. Colin was gone for the night, over at one of his friend's houses, and her AJ were SUPPOSED to have a night all to themselves. She pondered his idea, "Promise to be back early?"
AJ stepped closer to her, putting his hands on her hips, "I promise."
"How early?"
"11 at the latest..."
"Ok."
He smiled, kissing her, "You are SO the best!"
She rolled her eyes, "I know..now go, before I change my mind and chain you to the door."
AJ raised an eyebrow, "Oh really?"
"You are SUCH a perv sometimes!"
He grinned, "Ok, okay, I'm goin'. I'll be back!"
"Okay!"
AJ was going over to Kevin's to work on a song, but it wasn't going to be for an upcoming album or anything. It was for Madalyn. She had seemed to have forgotten that her birthday was coming up in the next week. Or she thought for some reason that AJ would forget. He hadn't.
AJ arrived at Kevin's house about 20 minutes later. Kristen opened the door, "Hey AJ, how're you doin'?"
"Good, you?"
"I'm cool..Kev's in the kitchen.."
AJ stepped inside, "Cool, thanks."
AJ found Kevin exactly where she had said. He looked up smiling, "Hey 'bout time you showed up."
AJ grinned, "Sorry, Madalyn wasn't exactly keen on me coming over on 'our' night."
"Colin gone for the night?"
"Yep..over at one of his friend's houses.."
"That's cool.."
"I told her I would be home by 11 at the latest so we gotta hurry."
Kevin stood up, "Okay, let's go."
