AJ watched as she tied another garbage bag shut and pitched it in the corner with the others. She sighed and took a seat next to him. AJ shook his head, "I can't believe he just up and left you like this..."
"You think I can?"
"I..I knew he was having some problems but this..this is ridiculous Madalyn!"
"I know AJ.."
They both froze as a little figure came into the room, wiping at his tired eyes. "Mommy...can I have something to drink?"
"Sure sweetheart, come with me and we'll get you something.."
The little boy smiled, "Hi Uncle AJ!"
AJ stood up and picked him up, "Hey kiddo! Did you have a nice nap?"
He nodded, "Yep!"
"Cool..sit up here while your mom gets you some milk."
Madalyn smiled and handed her son, 3 year old Colin, a glass of milk. "Thank you mommy!"
"You're welcome sweetheart."
Colin finished his milk and handed the glass back to Madalyn and hopped off the counter. "Can I go play video games?"
"Yeah, go on."
"yes!"
Colin took off running for the stairs and the tension came back.
"Has he asked about him?," AJ asked as him and Madalyn went back into the living room.
"Once..the other night."
"Oh.."
"I think Colin thinks he's coming back..I know he's not."
"I know he's not either.."
"I don't understand this at all AJ...why would Trevor leave his son out in the cold like this?"
AJ sighed, "I don't know...he never mentioned about anything..."
Madalyn sighed, "I'm just so confused...I'm 23 years old and I have a three year old and now, all of a sudden, I'm a single mother.."
"Madalyn..."
"It's true.."
AJ looked around, "I don't think you and Colin should stay here.."
"We can't..I can't afford it anyways.."
"Then move in with me."
"AJ.."
"Come on Mads, we both know you can't stay here. Move in with me, I need the company."
"What will people say?"
"Trevor is an ass."
Madalyn smiled, "I knew that already.."
"Come on Madalyn...it'll be free of rent, you and the kid can have run of the place whenever and whereever. You can get a job, whatever, just come live with me."
Madalyn looked around at her surroundings. She knew there was no way that she could get a job, put Colin in daycare, and keep up with the montrous payments for the loft her and her long-time boyfriend, Trevor, had been living in. She knew there was no way her parents or Trevor's parents would help out. AJ seemed the only way out...but she didn't want to intrude.
"AJ..I just..I'll feel like I'm intruding on your privacy."
AJ laughed, "What privacy!? I have none anyways..."
"What will the press say when a girl and her son move in with you, a big time pop star?"
"Who gives a shit? Damnit Madalyn, you're my friend and I'm going to help you..no matter whether you want me to or not...Trevor was one of my best friends, and you have too..and that little boy upstairs deserves to be in a stable home. Just say you'll give it a try..and if you ever feel uncomfortable or ever want to move out; no problem..go on. But please, give it a chance Madalyn?"
Madalyn sighed, why did he ALWAYS get to her like this?! "Fine..we'll give it a try AJ."
