Columbian Mammoth Dig

July 30, 2001.

This view is within thirty minutes of completing the project. A total of eight bones were encased with plaster. Three are already loaded in the wheelbarrow and five more are waiting, still in the position found.

Again, I would like to thank George Corner and the University of Nebraska State Museum for allowing me to participate in the dig. I gained both paleontological knowledge as well as some changes in the procedures I have been using when digging at my own sites.

What transpires next with the site will be determined by the Campbell city officials. Possibly, the land will be converted to a city park, and aptly named "Mammoth Park".
