Kobe Bryant is
one of the NBA's biggest talents. He is a shooting guard
with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe was born on August 23,
1978 in Philadelphia. He stands 6’6” and weighs 220 lbs.
Bryant's style, good looks and accomplishments on the
basketball court have made him one of the most popular and
most marketable players in the NBA. He speaks fluent Italian
and Spanish. He spent much of his childhood in Italy when
his father played professional basketball there. Kobe played
a tremendous role in leading the team in 2000, 2001 and 2002
NBA Championships. Now after playing for a while he has
started drawing conclusions and he has realized that talent
without brains does not go far.
He is
considered as one of the flashiest player in the NBA. His
fan base started building up when he won the 1997 Slam Dunk
Contest. He comes from a family of basketball players.
Kobe’s father played in the NBA for years, and gave Kobe a
basketball as soon as he was able to stand on his feet. In
his debut year in 1996, he averaged 7.5 points per game, and
has since raised that average to 30.0 in the 2002-2003
season. He started playing serious basketball in Lower
Merion High School and that was his launching base. Kobe
joined the varsity basketball team for the Aces. At the gym
he befriended Eddie Jones, one of the Owls’ starting guards.
Kobe Bryant is the kind of young athlete that everyone knew
was going to be a superstar one day. To achieve this Kobe
has really worked his way up.
