Judo is a sport (I consider it a martial art) derived from Ju-Jitsu, and the name itself, JUDO, literally means Way of Gentleness. That is because all the nasty stuff has been taken out of it to make it safer. Kodokan Judo was created by Doctor Jigaro Kano (1860-1938) in 1882 when he opened his first school of Judo, the Kodokan, in Japan.

I have been doing Judo since I was thirteen, starting off in the Kodomokai Judo Club under the late Sensei Ray Hazel.
I now teach at three clubs in the South London Area - Kodomokai R.H. based at Anerley Town Hall, and the Green Dragon at Darrick Wood Sports Centre in Locks Bottom (Bromley), and time permitting, the Beckenham & Penge J.C. at Royston School, Penge.
