The Reception

"And now… for the first time, I introduce to you, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Carter," The D.J. yelled into his microphone as Nick and Meggie walked into the ballroom. "And, for the first dance, with a special performance requested by the bride. Faithfully, by Journey." As Meggie led Nick out to the middle of the dance floor he looked at her funny. She just smiled as the music started. Nick pulled his bride closer to her as she put her hands around his neck and they started dancing.

As the song started, Nick turned his head to find Steve Perry singing ‘their’ song. Nick looked at him in amazement. He turned his head and looked at Meggie, who smiled.

"You did this?" he asked softly.

"With the help of four other guys.."

Nick smiled and softly kissed her as they continued their dance. Soon the song was over and everyone else joined Nick and Meggie. After a few dances sang by Steve, the DJ announced that it was time to cut the cake. Nick and Meggie made their way over to the table of food.

"I'll be nice," Nick whispered as he picked up the knife.

"You'd better," She teased. She laid her hands atop of his, and slowly sliced the knife through the cake. They put the small sliver of cake onto a plate, and then set the knife down. Cameras began to flash, and Nick raised his arm. He gently laid the piece of cake in Meggie's mouth and then licked his icing-covered fingers with a laugh. Meggie did the same, laying the cake in his mouth, but she left icing on his nose.

"Thanks," He laughed, wiping it off.

"Now, the toasts," The DJ announced. Jane and Bob ran around the ballroom, filling people's wine glasses with wine. Nick poured the finest wine they could find, into his and Meggie's glasses, then into Brian and Danielle's. The D.J. walked over and handed his microphone to Brian.

"Guess this means I'll be starting off," Brian said, making everyone laugh lightly. "Well, I met Nick in March of 1993. My first impression, was that he was a little thirteen-year-old brat. He was practically bouncing off the walls, playing his game boy. Once I was finally introduced for him… we realized we had some things in common. So, we began to talk more...and we just clicked, obviously. I watched Nick grow up, through the toughest time of anyone's life, their teenage years. He went through a lot, in nine years. And I watched him turn into a great man. I thought the day would never come, where he would marry. I've met so many of his girlfriends, and I usually walked away laughing, no offense Nick. But, when he introduced me to Meg, I saw his eyes light up, and I knew, this one might work. Well, now, I'm losing my little Frack to her. I realized, after the traumatic experience we went through a few months ago, that she was THE one. Meg, you take care of him for me, and if he starts bugging you, let me know, and I'll help you get out of the house for a while. Congratulations, you two," Nick and Meggie both had tears running down their faces, as did Brian. He raised his glass, and toasted to the bride and groom, then hugged them both. As Brian sat down, Danielle stood up.

"In seventh grade I met Meg… at lunch I believe it was. She didn't have a mirror and I had my CDs in my backpack. So I remember getting one out so she could check her hair." Everyone laughed as Meggie covered her face, briefly. "And then Robbie, gave us his wallet and sent us off to the cafeteria to go buy him some food. I've grown up with Meg sharing everything important with her and I remember when we were about fourteen… picking out our kids names, matching them up with our favorite celebrities. I never thought I'd see her get married... and to a Backstreet Boy non-the-less. And after Blake and the marine world guy, and Clayton…that hottie, I didn't think she’d ever find anyone good. But she’s proven me wrong, once again and I'm proud to say I know her. Meg, Nick… congratulations." Danielle raised her glass and toasted them as she sat back down.

After hours of dancing, and some karaoke, Nick and Meggie said their goodbyes to their friends and family and got into their limo, heading off for their honeymoon.
