So...it's Msallthat's birthday, and ole Dickens needs to take a minute or three to reflect on that.

Aloha....

Have not been feeling well the past few days, so I apologize for my absence and silence. Migraines are proof positive there *is* a Hell. Grin. So how have you all been?

Painted out at the Farm today, nice sun, but chilly in the shade. Put in 5 hours and that was about all I wanted for the day. Out again tomorrow, as we need to get this done while the weather is in such a cooperative mood.

MikeBell got his license back, so yesterday we drove over to his little half-acre property about 15 miles away. It's just outside of town half a mile or so, and has a couple of ramshackle buildings leaning this way and that. He got the property for $200, so at least he has a *place*. He talks now of retirement, while I am just beginning (it seems) to think of truly living. Heh. He'll get it fixed up, eventually. The sunset was vivid, stunning. I have never seen sunsets quite so lovely as these in Kansas.

A meeting tonight, in about half an hour. It's good to be in the prime of my life, in relatively good health, with a decent sense of humor and friends galore, both here in town and out there online.

Will go out to the University first real chance I get and try to do a "catch-up" letter to the Circle. Meanwhile, let me hear from you, how you're doing, how Life is treating you, and so forth. I miss hearing from you a great deal--and of course I know you have busy lives. But grab a minute here or there to let me hear.

Am continuing to study Koine Greek, altho I'm not much of a student. Am still plodding thru learning the alphabet(a). Don't learn yr ABCs, but yr ABGs...alpha, beta, gamma...heh.

A couple of days ago the weather was so lovely I walked down and sat on the river bank and just watched that part of the world go by. A bald eagle was perched in a tree across from me, silhouetted. They hang out by the dam this time of year as the river will soon freeze, and the dam will remain open, supplying fish.

It was lovely, peaceful, and I felt a sense of time rushing by me like the river moving before my very feet. If it is thusly at 55, what will it be like later? Each day seems more and more precious, and Life itself seems more and more like some kind of wonderful but ephemeral gift.

Ephemera. Mindy bought a dictionary the other night and was asking for words to look up. I meant to ask her to look up *ephemera* but it slipped my mind.

Take care, Dear Hearts. Remember who loves ya....

Much Aloha,

Dickens
