Bevin breathed in slowly and focused her concentration while getting into the right stance. Two guys were about to attack her, one on her left and the other behind her. She opened her eyes as the one on the left was about to kick her in the stomach. Bevin grabbed his leg and punched him in the face while aiming a kick towards the others head, but he ducked and she paused momentarily. Taking aim she kicked him with her left foot and made contact with his face, she then kneed him in the stomach.Slightly breathing heavily she grinned at Kristy beneath her semi-wavy brown hair. Kristy's bright blue eyes sparkled in the morning light. Bevin stared at them for a minute, wishing she could draw this moment, a challenge for another day she thought. Pain burned in her knee and she glanced down at the dark blot in the middle of her jeans beginning to spread.
"Dang." Bevin whispered while wincing. "Here I brought you this." Kristy gave her some Band-Aids. "I'm surprised you didn't kill my tress." She said joking but concern was still for her friend. "I'm alright, just a scratch. Yeah, I hadn't realized I hit them that hard." Bevin replied while ministering to her cut. They had put ropes around the tress to soften the impact, neither of them had a punching bag; so this was the closest thing.
Kristy went back inside to throw away the rest of the trash, her blonde hair swaying behind her. Bevin laid down in the grass, watching the sky with her blue gray eyes. Sounds of the soft morning surrounded her and she breathed in the summer air while closing her eyes for a moment, putting one hand behind her head. A sound like an ambulance came fast from her right and she sat up, but it was not what she expected.
A white animal was suddenly upon her and clawing with furious anger. Acting quickly she grabbed its waist and threw it down as hard as she could. Kristy had just come out of the house and arrived just as the thing hit the ground. Bevin felt blood surfacing on her arms and chest. Kristy peered over at it and Bevin went to look at it, ignoring her wounds.
It was a cat. Male; by the looks of it with a strange mark on his forehead. Bevin bent down to touch the strange shape with her fingers but jerked them back as if touching a hot stove. It wasn't hot, but strangely cool; it's metal she mused and with a closer inspection it turned out to be a gold crescent moon.
Bevin grinned, "Hey, maybe it's Artimis." She laughed. Kristy studied the cat and nodded, "Perhaps." She replied. After a few seconds it still didn't move. "Uh....maybe we should poke it with a stick." Bevin slightly smiled at her comment and Kristy just looked at her. "What?" Bevin asked and then said with concern, "Is it...well...did I...uh...kill it?" Just then his bright blue eyes shot open and Kristy jumped back a little and Bevin laughed relieved, "Whew, he's not dead."
The cat stood up weakly and shook his head, and looked like he was in some pain. Kristy bent down to pick him up but the cat backed up, as if he was about to run. He studied her intently, almost reading her thoughts, she raised an eyebrow at Bevin who just shrugged and said, "Strange cat." The cat then turned his attention to her and looked at her for a while. Bevin eyed him warily, it seemed to smile at her. "Go away." She told him as if he could comprehend human speech. The cat appeared to regain most of it's strength back as it walked towards her. She readied herself in case he tried something again.
He had the appearance of smiling, if cats could do such a thing, then he did something incredible. "Hello, my name is Artimis." He bowed his head then raised it again. "And I'm your guardian." He told her. "Wha-what? You can talk?!" She said incredulously. Kristy murmured the same thought. He grinned and hopped on Bevin's shoulder, she was still in shock but she shoved him off her.
"Get off of me." She stated in anger and disgust. He landed on all fours but looked at her hurt, she felt sympathy for Artimis, but still didn't trust him. "So, why are you here?" Kristy asked slowly recovering from the idea that he could talk. "I'm glad you asked me that...Mercury." He added. She raised an eyebrow at that and Bevin laughed imagining Kristy in Mercury's fuku.
"I'm here because of the battle has already begun, and you two need to prepare of it." He stated matter of factly. Then a bright light surrounded him for a second and was gone.In front of him lay two henshin pens, each with their symbol on it and color. The dark blue was facing Kristy that had a sparkle in it when reflected in the light, while Bevin's was soft yellow and seemed to glow.
Cautiously they both walked over and picked the pens up, inspecting them. Kristy turned hers around in her hands with wonderment while Bevin tried to pull it apart, thinking it was a pen; then she shook it, trying to listen for a sound. Artimis sighed, "Stupid, it's not a writing pen, just a henshin pen." "Hey, shut up." She retorted grinning slightly at him. "So, I guess I just hold this up in the air and shout Venus Power Make Up huh?" Her smile broadened still thinking this was a joke.
"Well, yes actually." He said with mischief in his eyes. "Hmm,"She eyed him, " I don't believe you." "Well, Just try it. You too, "He looked at Kristy, "You just say Mercury instead." Bevin looked at Kristy and grinned, and she grinned back. They laughed a little thinking it would never work, but what did they have to loose? Holding the henshin pens they both called out their own phrases.
