Hey there! Good to see you! Come on in and set for a
spell. Put your feet up, relax, the beers in the fridge.
Relax, and listen to the ramblings of the Toolman. (You
might even learn something, if your not careful! ha ha)
I am in my early 30's, and have been in the
maintenance field for most of my life. I am a universally
certified refrigeration technician. I also do building
electrical, plumbing, heating, appliance repair, welding,
remodeling, and a little bit of carpentry. (I even work
on my own cars, when I have to. he-he) I guess you could
call me a jack of all trades, but when it came
to computers, I was lost!
I had never touched one, until that one fateful day,
when I came in to work, and saw it
sitting there on my desk. They had fired the foreman, and
this was their idea of a cost effective
alternative. There it sat, just
starring at me, with that blank screen, waiting for me to
do something! So, with only one day of training,
I began to learn how to use this thing
that had been forced upon me. In the months to come I
began to see that it, was just another
tool! I found out that I could actually use this
thing!
WOW! Well, that was it, I was hooked!
I learned all I could about the
computer, and on Oct. 96, I finally
joined the crowd, and bought one of my own! After six
months of trial and error, and uncountable hours
on the tech. support lines, I did get the hang of it all!
The Internet was my next passion. After surfing
the Net for six months or so, I began to wonder if I
could create a page of my own... Well this is it! I did
it, and it was easy! (well, not too bad anyway.) Now, I
want to show you how to do it also! Here are the
best tutorials and links (in my opinion), to get you
started, and on your way to a home on the World Wide
WEB!

Well fellow surfers, the time has come to
upgrade this little "puter".
You know what I'm talking about, the need for
speed! I've outgrown my little desktop machine,
so now it's time for more power!
(Did I just hear someone grunt like the Toolman on TV?) ;-0 This is what I've done sofar...
That is all for now. It was easy to do, just plug
in the parts and turn it back on ( all but the hard
drive, the reconfigure process was a little confusing on
the first time through, I know, I know, if all else fails
then read the instructions! ). I would recomend you shop
around your local "puter" shops for the best prices. If
you can't find any near by, there are tons of them on the
web.
Tell them the Toolman sent ya! |

UPDATE! June 2003
Those where the days! Wow, I've come a long way since
1997! It is now June 2003. That little supercharged
Packard Bell was donated to my daughter when I upgraded
to a new P4 1.4gz. system, back in 2000. I am still
tweaking out all the horse power that I can from my P4
system. (and spending a lot more money on upgrades too.)
I whent from a 28.8k dial up modem to a 56k, then tried
ISDN (128k) for about a year. My system is now running on
a Motorola Surfboard (SB4100) Cable Modem
(1500/300k)!!
I rebuilt a couple of P2 350mz. systems for my son and
neighbor. I set up a new home office for my wife with a
brand new P4 2.6gz. system (Dell) (boy, did I get points
for that hehe). I just finnished building my first
computer from scratch (for my daughter, yes she was still
using the Packard Bell!). It is an AMD athalon 1700+,
that was a fun experience! (yes, it does work!) I also
just upgraded my home network from a hub to a router. Now
I am thinking about laptops...
UPDATE! 04 Aug. 2005
Hello again! I'm just getting the site rebuild wrapped
up. Boy, did it ever need it! Let me know what you think
of the new frames set up. I added about 4 new main pages
and I'm still working on getting all the content and
links going again. I'm still using my P4 system and it's
still running great. I have gone thru a few laptops and
even baught a couple of broken IBM's off of EBAY and
built a good one from the parts. I'm also getting some
schooling in these days. I'm half way to my Associates
Degree in Applied Computer Science now! (Hey if the
Toolman can do it then any body can do it! ha ha) Wow,
it's hard to believe how the time has flown by, I hit the
big 40 this year. (Shhhhhhh don't tell any one...) Well,
the kids are almost grown, only one left at home now.
They are great kids, go check out the updated pages on
them. I'll be surfing the web on the lookout for more
great resources for you. With all the advancements in
HTML and other mark-up langages I'll have my hands full
trying to kee you all informed. Keep those web page ideas
coming, remember the web is what you make it!
Happy HTML Everyone!! |
