I recently converted an old snowboard of mine (a rather long 170cm) into one h*lluva rad off-road skateboard. This is starting to get into a craze down here in New Zealand, but there don't seem to much going on in the rest of the world..
It's real easy: Just cover the top in grip tape, get some rather wide trucks like they had in the mid-80's*, drill a couple of holes in the board where to screw the trucks onto, and get nice long bolts, so there is room for about 3/4 inch of spacer/s.
The boards work really well on grass etc, when you have nice phat wheels (about 4inches in diameter). I might send a pic someday when I finally get my scanner going, but until then, no pics yet :(.
*In the latest CCS catalog (Winter '97) you can get Independent Stage 7, 10.25 inch wide trucks.
If you have decided to make one of these cool things, I would like to hear from you! Please e-mail me and tell me of your stories, and happenings with it!
