"BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!" The alarm blared, jolting Venus from her dream. Of course, it's sound ceased once it met with it's worst enemy, the pillow. Venus, drowslily, wanted very badly to go back to her dream land, in the Carribean, with her one true love, having dinner by a fireside on a deserted island, but she knew that she had to go to school. She was dreading it dearly, because she knew the day would be a nightmare. Somehow, she dragged herself out of the bed, showered, and dressed. She decided, thinking about her day's plans, that she should skip the mascara. Then, like she always did, she sat down at her desk and made her list of things to do for the day.
TO DO:
BREAK UP WITH NICK
EXPLAIN BREAK WITH NICK TO MY FRIENDS
FIND A WAY GET CRUSH TO NOTICE ME BECAUSE I NEED A NEW BF
Well, that settled it. So, Venus threw on her pea coat and headed off, unwillingly to school.
Once she arrived, the war began. She walked into the cafeteria, preparing for impact. Just like usual, Nick was sitting at the back table. She approached him. "Hey cutie..."
"What's up babe? I gotta split in a few to beat up that Chris geek!"
"Well Nick..." Venus began to try to explain to Nick what she was feeling, which pretty much got her nowhere. Then, she cut to the lamens terms. "Nick, I want to break up." With that, she walked out of the cafeteria, not realizing how broadly she was smiling. She walked out of the room so quickly, she didn't realize that someone was there. She ran smack into Treenie. "Owwww!! Geez, watch it!" she screamed at the tall blonde, who had a look on her face that made it appear that she didn't realize that someone was there. 'Ok,' Venus thought, 'I can make a new start right after I am in geek free territory.'
Right then, the warning bell rang, causing Venus to have to make a run for her first hour if she was going to make it there in five minutes. 'Why do they have all these stupid classes so far apart?!?!' As she slid in to her seat, showing of her skill and experience, the bell rang. Mr. Peabody was so blind, he wouldn't notice if she was pulling an Eve! Mr. P started in on something about new partner projects that the class would be working on. As he read the list of partners, Venus's heart jumped out of her mouth. She prayed that she wouldn't be partnered with Nick or any of her friends that would have just heard the news. Too many questions. When Mr. Peabody came to her name, she nearly fainted. She was partnered with Branwen. 'Great, why don't I just move in with Nick! She totally despises me!'. As Venus moved her books to the seat next to Branwen's, she managed a weak smile. "Hey."
"Hi." Branwen mumbled, seething that she would have to be partnered with that ditz. The girls worked for a while to decide on their idea, a study on gangs and teen violence. "Hey, class is almost over, darn, we can't work on our project." she mustered with fake despair.
"Well, would you like to come over to my house this weekend? I think we do need to work on this some more, since it is due in two weeks." Venus said, hoping that the standoffish girl would accept her offer. "Maybe..."
"Maybe what?"
"Well, if you wanted, I have lots of makeup, so I, I mean we, could give you, i mean, each other makeovers if there was time!"
Branwen couldn't believe that she was nodding her head up and down. But she did, and she didn't know why. She wasn't sure if it was the other girls convincing act, or her own small desire to be like Venus, to have perfect everything, and to be accepted. She wasn't sure, but she would find out.
As much as Branwen dreaded it, Saturday had arrived. So, she threw on her "butterfly butt" jeans, and a V-Neck stripped shirt, and walked to Venus's house. Venus was in the middle of her own preporations. She carefully applied her new nailpolish, and then cursed herself for doing it because she had to take the cookies out of the oven. DING DONG! "Cool, Branwen's here!" she said aloud to no one in particular. Venus opened the door wide and invited Branwen in, who didn't look to happy about it. 'Well, maybe after a while the tough exterior will wear down!' Venus half wondered to herself. "So, is your mom a homemaker? Those cookies smell good." Branwen said, jealous already of Venus's perfect house and mom. "No, um..., she and my father died last year in a car accident. Drunk driver. I live on my own." "Wow, I am so sorry! I had no idea!". Branwen was seriously regretting her first thoughts, because she could totally relate. "Yeah, mine died when I was thirteen. Car crash too. Dad died instantly, mom was in a coma for 2 months, then passed." "I'm sorry too." There was an awkward pause between the girls for a moment. Venus broke the pause by bringing up the subject of their project. The girls worked on it quietly for a while. They actually finished it, and the final product was great. "Well, I guess I better go home now." Branwen suggested, but a part of her really wanted to stay, now that they actually had something in common. "Well, do you wanna hang for a while? I don't know if this is just totally lame, but we could do makeovers or something?" "Sounds like fun. I got nothing better to do." Branwen shrugged, trying to hide the small amount of excitement inside her. The girls went up to Venus's room, and Venus took her turn first. "I really think that you have really pretty cheekbones, so you should use a little blush to accentuate them. And maybe a little lip gloss or something. I have lots of samples, my mom is, i mean, uh, was an Avon lady." Branwen looked at herself in the mirror. She really liked what she saw. It made her look happier, less pale and, well, vampirish. "Wow, how did you get so good at makeup?" "Well, from my mom, and I also had lots of practice covering up the bruises you gave Nick when he had modeling jobs!" The girls laughed at the memory of Nick's, um, retrieval. Then, when Branwen's turn came, all she did was a little touch of everything. "I think that sometimes you wear too much, like you are trying to cover yourself up. You are really pretty, so you don't need much." Both girls ended the day with big smiles, and lighter hearts. "Hey, would you maybe like to go to the mall with me next Friday?" Branwen inquired. "That new Lamar Sanabria movie is out, he looks pretty cute in it." "Sure, I would love to!" **************************** Soon, the nightmare of Monday came. At lunch was what worried Venus the most. Would she sit with all her friends like usual? Or her newfound friend, Branwen? Finally, Venus mustered up the courage to enter the lunchroom, and walk straight to Branwen's table, not taking a single glance at Nick's stare. "Hey, what's up? Hi, I don't know you, I'm Venus Psyche." Venus said to the sheepish looking girl sitting next to Branwen. "Aren't you in my Algebra class?" "Yes, greetings, my name is Kyrria. Yes, it is correct, we have seventh hour together." the girl replied, who was obviously very intelligent. Venus was glad that she made her descision. She had more fun at lunch that day than at a million old lunches. **************************** "Oh Venus, I love you more than words can say!" said her strong, and handsome husband. He sweeped her into a long, romantic kiss. BEEP BEEP BEEP!!! "I am sooooo gonna kill that retarded little stupid geeky alarm!!!" Venus cried in hate at her alarm. THE END OF VENUS'S STORY
