Dreams Come True - Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Dolly looked down. She had put her hand down on the couch and leaned back to relax and enjoy the movie. But during the balcony scene, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Taylor glance at her. Then he casually moved over an inch. He leaned his head back. His soft blond hair was mingling with Dolly's own dark locks. And then, to Dolly's amazement, Taylor let his hand drop, right on top of hers! Dolly could feel her blood pounding. As Romeo and Juliet professed their love, Dolly felt herself go limp. Her head slumped to the side, and onto Taylors shoulders. "Oh, my god!" thought Dolly to herself, "Now what am I going to do! . . . ."

Taylor looked over at Dolly. He saw the way her face moved with emotion at the sight of Romeo and Juliet. He sighed and thought to him self "I could never ,make her look like that." Then he decided to make a risky move. He moved over an inch. Then ever so casually, he let his hand drop over Dolly's . He didn't think she would notice. Or, if she did, she would just shake his hand away. But she didn't. They sat like that for a few minutes. Then Taylor heard Dolly sigh. Was it a sigh of sadness? Of remorse? Or . . . could it have been more? Then, the most amazing thing happened. Dolly leaned over. Her head rested comfortably on Tay's shoulder. Tay started breathing faster. "Does she like me the way I like her?" he thought to himself. "Maybe . . ."

Ike looked over at Dolly and Taylor. He saw her head resting on his shoulder. He saw Taylor's hand on top of hers. "Whoa" thought Ike."Things are sure heating up between those two." He smiled to himself. "I knew they were meant to be." He looked over at Beatrice. "I wish things were like that between me and her," he thought. Then he decided that if Taylor could make a big move, so could he. He leaned over towards Beatrice. Trying not to seem to obvious, he draped his arm around the couch ,and let it slip around her shoulders. He looked at her to watch for a reaction. He thought he saw her breath come a little faster. But that could have been because of the movie. "Time to make my move," he thought to himself. He scooted closer to Beatrice. Then a little closer. So close that there was no room between them. He held his breath and waited.

Although she should have been watching the movie, Beatrice felt her thoughts returning to Ike. The thought of his warm body next to hers made her feel giddy. She felt light headed. "Oh, man," she thought to herself. "If only Ike felt the same way about me that I feel for him," thought Beatrice. Then, wonder of all wonders, Beatrice felt Ike's arm drop onto her shoulders! She started breathing faster. Her heart started pounding like a jack hammer. She felt Ike move closer to her and closer to her. She felt herself go numb. "Whoa. Maybe he DOES like me the way I like him . . ."

Zac looked at Hope. He found himself thinking of how nice they would look together. Playing drums together . . . singing together . . .holding hands . . . Wait. What was he thinking?! He didn't like girls! Or, maybe, he did . . .

* * * * *

Hope found herself dreaming of Zac. They would make such a cute couple together. And they were both even the same age! There was a 2 year difference between Ike and Bea, and look at them! They were practically going together after one movie! Hope looked at Zac. "If only he felt this way," she thought. She sighed and leaned back to watch the movie.

The Movie was almost over. To everyone, it was ending much too soon. As the two lovers in the movie were dying, Dolly found herself weeping. She had seen this movie a million times, but she cried at the end every time anyway. When her tears fell, she felt a smooth hand wiping away her tears. She looked up and Saw Taylor smiling down at her.
"Don't cry ,Dolly," he said softly. At the sound of his smooth, soothing voice, Dolly felt her heart jump. She looked at his hand and twined his fingers between hers. She smiled at him, then turned back to the screen.
Ike and Bea were still sitting close. Beatrice felt someone stroking her hair with gentle, loving hands. She felt her body go limp. She looked up to see Ike looking down at her. He had the most beautiful look on his face that Beatrice had ever seen . . .
"Man!" Thought Hope. "Everybody's all up on each other. Gag me!" Then she glanced at Zac. "C'mon Zac! Do something! Don't just sit there! Don't you feel anything at all?!" Hope thought.

As the movies credits went up, Taylor found himself sighing. "Man!" he thought to himself, "just when something good was happening! . . ."
Ike found that the movie was over. He hadn't even noticed! He was to caught up on his own thoughts. Like how great he and Beatrice would look together dancing at the spring fling. . .
"I should have said something to her!" thought Zac to himself. "I've probably lost any chance I had with her now!" he thought. "Geez. I'm such a wimp," he looked at Hope. "Hmmm...... maybe at the dance. . ."

"Good movie," said Tay softly, looking into Dolly's eyes.
"Mmmhmm," said Ike. He was still thinking of Beatrice. The six of them stood up and walked back to Dolly's garage. As the guys were leaving, Dolly spoke up.
"Hey, I have and Idea. For the dance, we could all go together. You know, like a group of friends," she said.
"That sounds great!" said Tay.
"Well, um, Bea, can we meet at your house though?" said Dolly. "I don't think my mom will be home Friday, and she doesn't like me here alone at night."
"Ok. That's cool," said Bea. She turned to the guys. "Drop by my house around 6:30. We can get a ride with someone."
"I'll drive us," said Ike.
"Really? That would be great!" said Dolly.
"So, see you Friday?" said Bea to the guys.
"Defiantly. See you!" said Tay. And the guys left.
"Dolly, your mom isn't going out Friday! What was that all about?" asked Bea.
"Sssh. Yeah, I know. But if the guys showed up at my doorstep to take us out, I'd be in a convent faster then you can say 'Date'," Dolly replied. The girls laughed.
"So, shall we meet at your house around, lets say, 5:00?" said Dolly.
"I'll bring my stuff so we can all get ready at your house," she said. Dolly winked.
"That way we can experiment some before the guys come to take us to the dance," she said. Hope and Beatrice grinned and left. Then Dolly sat and thought about what would be the best way to ask the dance coordinator, Ms. Scott, about having the Hansons perform at the dance.
