Chapter 2

We flew out of the window and into the sunshine. It was a warm, cloudless day with plenty of sweet thermals. *Yee-HAH!* I yelled in sheer pleasure. I had just caught an awesome thermal, which sent me up, up, up! *Woo-HOO!* Josh exclaimed. He must have just caught that same thermal, too. *Let’s go over to Emily and Logan’s* I suggested. *Okay* Josh replied. We turned right and flew in lower until we reached their house. *Look! Logan’s bedroom window is open. Let’s go in and demorph* Josh exclaimed. *Alright* I answered. We flew in and started demorphing. Just then Logan walked in. “Aughhhh!” he yelled, surprised. We laughed. “Guys, don’t DO THAT! What are you, trying to give me a heart attack?!?!” Logan exclaimed, clutching his heart. All Josh and I did was laugh again. “Logan, why are you yelling?” Emily asked, walking in. We were already fully human. “Oh, hey guys, I didn’t know you were here,” Emily said. “Hi,” Josh and I replied. “How about you guys come over our house? We can start our science projects,” Josh suggested. We all looked at him, surprised. Josh doesn’t usually suggest things like schoolwork. “Why, do you have an idea about what to do it on?” Emily asked. “Yes, I do. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!” he exclaimed like a madman. “Okay, I’ll ask mom. I’ll be right back,” Logan said, walking out of the room. A few minutes later he came back. “She said okay but we have to be back before dark,” Logan reported. “Cool,” I said. We all focused on our bird morphs. While morphing, me and Josh Watched Emily and Logan morph. They have an awesome, natural morphing ability. As soon as everyone was finished we flew out the window. We flew through the window of my bedroom and demorphed. Then Josh and Logan went into Josh’s room to start their project. I looked over at Emily. We both looked from my science book, back to each other. “Nah,” we said at the same time. We talked for awhile and suddenly heard Josh yell, “Ahahahahaha! Eureka! Hey Kath, Em, come over here!” Emily and I exchanged glances and reluctantly went into Josh’s room. “We’ve done it!” Logan exclaimed, beaming. “What have you done?” asked Emily, annoyed. “We’ve made a time machine!” Josh said, his blue eyes wide with excitement. Emily and I looked at them as if they were insane. “No, really! Should we try it?” Logan asked Josh. Josh smiled and exclaimed, “Let’s do it!” I rolled my eyes and Emily sighed. “Okay, I’ll turn it on and you guys put your hands on it,” Logan said, still grinning. I looked at the so-called ‘time macine’. It looked like a metal piece of junk. Even Emily looked at it skeptically. “Oh, c’mon. Try it. Please? Not for us. For the name of science!” Josh exclaimed to me and Emily. Okay, now he was really starting to scare me. Josh and Logan looked at us pleadingly. “Oh, alright,” Emily gave in and put her hands on the box. I sighed and did the same. “Great,” said Logan. He pushed a few buttons and the box made a few strange noises. Then he put his hands on the box along with me, Josh, and Emily. Josh and Logan grinned. My eyes grew wide as the box started moving. “Wh-what’s happening?!” Emily exclaimed, looking scared. I tried to take my hands off….I couldn’t! It was like they were glued to the stupid box! Then, everything around me swirled and swirled and finally just blacked out. The last thing I remember was me screaming…
