Chapter 5

"AUGHHHHHHHH!!!" everyone screamed. Kids ran frantically, this way and that. Mrs. Loache stood on her desk, as did many kids. Peter got up and started chasing Buddy, but Buddy was too fast. He slithered top speed. "Funny, I thought snakes were slower than that", I thought to myself. A second later I heard Young Jake say the exact same thing. "Woah! This is attack of the killer snake!" Marco yelled as he joined a group of running kids. "Look!" one kid yelled. I turned just in time to see Cassie leap for Buddy and catch him like it was nothing. "Wow!" the kids murmured, coming up to Cassie, who was holding Buddy. She gave him to Peter. "Thanks," he said. "Sure," Cassie grinned. Suddenly, it faded. FLASH! I wasn't in the classroom anymore. I was in a backyard. My backyard "Come here, Homer!" I heard. I spun around and saw myself-about 11 years old. A small dog ran up to him. Homer. He was much younger than he is now. I watched as Jake threw a stick, playing fetch with Homer. After awhile, Tom came out of the house. "Hey midget, wanna play some b-ball?" he asked Jake. I studied Tom. He was around the age that I am now. He also wasn't a Controller. "Yeah!" little Jake replied. "Then c'mon," Tom said, trotting away, dribbling the ball. I watched the game and Tom totally kicked my butt. I wasn't bad, though. "Come on guys, it's getting late. School tomorrow, remember?!" Mom shouted from inside. Tom winced. "Don't remind me." They went inside and FLASH! I was in the boys bathroom in school. I saw myself walk in. I remembered this, it wasn't long ago when it happened. Almost a year. I watched myself hear something strange in a stall and look to see what it was. Jake found two guys stuffing a new boy's head in the toilet and flushing. "You guys, leave him alone," I heard Jake say in a serious, firm way. The two guys looked at Jake for a few seconds and then took the kid's head out of the toilet. The boy wiped his face and stood, gasping for air. "Your luck big Jake decided to save you, new boy. Next time you might not be so lucky," one of the guys threatened. The guys left. "Thanks," said the boy to Jake, trying to get his hair off his face and his books together. "No problem. By the way, I'm Jake. You're new around here?" "Yeah. I'm Tobias." "Well, I should be going. See you later," Jake said, heading towards the door. "Okay, later. And thanks again, Jake." FLASH! I was in Cyberia. I was kind of getting used to the flashes. I looked around and found me and Marco playing a video game. Homer was there, too. "C'mon Jake, it's my turn. I can make it to the next level," Marco whined. "Are you dreaming again, Marco?" Jake replied. "Do you dare me?" "What do you think, Homer?" Jake asked, looking at Homer. Homer barked. "See?" Marco exclaimed. "Okay, go ahead," Jake sighed. Suddenly Rachel and Cassie came up behind them. "Hey guys," Rachel said. Cassie smiled. "Where have you guys been?" Jake asked. "One word-sale," Marco replied, not taking his eyes off the computer screen. Jake laughed and Cassie hid a smile. "Excuse me, but I am captain of the gymnastics team. We had a meet," Rachel answered. "So what have you been doing, Galactic Warrior?" she asked, glancing at Marco who seemed to be very into his game. "Shhhhhhh!" he shushed her. Rachel rolled her eyes so Cassie could see her, and Cassie laughed quietly. Then the computer screen got fuzzy. "Hey what's going on?! That's not fair!" Marco started yelling. "You just got blown away," Jake said, laughing. Suddenly Homer started barking and ran off. I watched as Cassie, Rachel, Marco, and Jake-me-ran out the door, chasing after Homer. None of them knew the horror that would happen in just minutes.
