FLASH! I was in my room. The Ellimist was there. "Did you enjoy your trip to the past, Jake?" he asked me. I looked around. "What was it for?" I asked slowly. "Jake, that was your life before the Yeerks invaded. Before you met Elfangor. Before you became an Animorph," he said. I nodded and looked down. I couldn't give up, I HAD to be the leader. No way out of it. I HAD to keep fighting the Yeerks with my friends. I HAD to find a way to free Tom and the thousands of other Controllers. I was an Animorph! "Thanks, Ellimist," I said, smiling. He nodded and smiled, too. Then he vanished. I ran over to Cassie's barn, feeling pretty good. Everyone was there-except for Ax. I remembered. Ax was still missing. "Hey, Jake," they said. "Hey," I replied, trying to smile. I took a seat next to Cassie. It was wierd seeing them because I just saw them as young kids. But...I can't think about that now...Ax... "What's wrong, Jake?" Cassie asked, looking concerned. "Yeah, and where's Ax-man?" Marco added. I looked at Tobias who was up in the rafters. He stared back down at me with his fierce hawk eyes. "Ax is...well...missing," I started. "What?!" they yelled. "Are you sure?" Cassie asked. "Well, Tobias said he didn't see him today in the forest. Have you seen him in the barn today, Cass?" I asked Cassie. She shook her head. *So what do we do?* Tobias asked in thought-speak. "I say we break into the Yeerk pool in our combat morphs and--" Rachel started. "Easy, Xena. We can't just go--" Marco interrupted. "Listen, Marco. If you'd just stop being--" Rachel started again. "Quiet you two. We have to find Ax, not stay here arguing," I interrupted. Cassie nodded in agreement. We all sat there thinking. All of the sudden I heard, "Hello, Prince Jake and all." We whipped our heads around and saw Ax in his human morph, eating a hot dog. "Ax!" we all yelled. He looked kind of scared because we all yelled. "Ax, where were you?" I asked. "Are you alright?" Cassie asked. "Where did you get that hot dog?" Marco asked. Ax looked around at us strangely. "Yes, I am fine. I went into your human center. Cen-tur." "Human center...you mean the mall?" Rachel said. Rachel loves the mall. Even saying the word made her eyes light up. "Yes. Yessssssss. That is where I got this," Ax explained, holding up his hot dog. "Where did you get the money to pay for that?" I asked. Ax looked confused. "Money? Mun-eeee? I didn't pay anything." "So, you stole it?" Cassie asked, looking alarmed. "No. I got it from a round bin inside the human center. Many people deposit their food in it. There are many of them all around the human center," he answered, taking a bite. "Round bin?" wondered Rachel. Suddenly we all realized what Ax was talking about. *Ax...gross!* Tobias exclaimed, laughing in our heads. "Ax, you don't eat the stuff people put in the trash! That's garbage!" Marco said while in hysterical laughter. Ax looked around at us all making faces of disgust, shrugged, and took another bite. THE END!
