Too many people these days focus on diversity as a racial issue. It shouldn't be. Those who strive to achieve diversity by bringing races together are only maintaining segregation in races. By making a special effort to go somewhere with a good amount of both "white" and "black" people, a person keeps the races seperate. To truly want to achieve diversity, people need to stop focussing on bringing races together and start focussing on bringing PEOPLE together. They need to stop looking at people as "black" and "white", and start looking at them as "good with math" and "an art lover". Diverse (adj). - 1. Differing from one another. People aren't diverse because they look different. A terrible person can be black, white, yellow, green, blue... it doesn't matter what color they are, what matters is that they're a terrible person. What's more important? That a person is Korean or that they saved another person's life by taking a bullet for them? I think that when considering diversity, we need to start looking at what's important. You get just as much diversity in a room of "black" people as in a room of 50% "white" and 50% "black" people. Sure, some people may be similar in the first room, but the same number of people may be similar in the second room. My basic point here is: the only way to truly achieve diversity is to
not try so hard. It's about the people not the color of their skin.
