Notes:
April 1st, 2003 Building the website has been fun. Hopefully good notes will allow me to post some interesting reading about my Mission to Mexico. On this journey I hope to achieve a couple of personal goals. First and foremost as a woman I can't imagine living in a shanty. But if I had to... I would. This gives me a chance to help another woman to have a better home. Let my lesson be here that a house is not a home without peace, love and acceptance. Whether in a shanty or a 14 X 20 her home is where her heart is. Let the house I help build be a home. My other goal is to experience deep poverty and continue to be thankful for what I have. My financial state has always be low compared to national standards. But to international standards - I live well. Last but not least, this is the first trip I have ever taken "by myself" without a family member. It is important that during this time in my life to learn to take a trip and to gain courage to see more of the world. Mostly I am just anxious about the trip. Fears of the house burning down, children becoming ill keep racing through my mind. The other volunteers are unknown to me. In one short week I am sure I will have made some new friends. April 5, 2003 Well I am all packed and ready to leave. Laura is taking me up to the van. Pinch me! I can't believe the day has arrived.
