THE MAP-

HISTORY-

HOME PAGE

I read an article on the Gods. Were they all extinct by the time of the first great Empire?

Yes they were. But they lived on through their bloodline being mixed with the Wilderfolk. And through the descendants of Anhurr who was Azzarlon.

In what Age was the great canal of Keysadore built?

It was built in the Last Ages which was the time of the First and second Strato.

I'm intrigued by the astronmy but bewildered as to the make up of it's universe etc.

The information is hidden but can be gleaned in the Surkling. The subject is vast but simply, there was no moon, but a wandering star that appeared every 768 of their years. The planet that Muggy is on is not so named in the three Ages of the books. Their Galaxy is front on so that they see a spiral unlike our Milky Way which is side on.

I came across a beautiful name in the story of an avenue(there many others) Corantor. Can you tell me more?:

Avenue of Tor; named after him in Ekepa, a beautiful city of ancient lineage in the Southing. It was here, that Terra and his companions fled after the fall of Bez, and they marveled at the forts on the walls lit up by many torches. It was a City of avenues. They called them antor which was- a way. The avenues had names like Corantor, Erantor and Kmareantor. The antor led to open parks, groves, cobbled streets, open plazas and old castles. The city was ancient- a variety of old and new dwellings, fine buildings and statues.

In the story an often used corruption is the word eightyish. What is the reason behind this; I like it but sometimes it anoys me.

The deliberate distortion of their language. Reaching English as this equivalent. Your right, lovingly and annoyingly used by Terra and his companions. It was an informal, humorous side stepping; or inaccurate measurement designed to cloud the truth of age.

The White Shield

The possessors of the Ink of the Golden GLow. This was the sign of the Immortal. The first Immortal was called Quilatroy and after that every Immortal was called the Heir of Quilatroy. The White Shield in language- or Glyptics was Vera Sa Siln. Anciently they resided on the mountain of Peasa and their descendants established temples in Bekand, Bez and Paradia. They arose in Paradia to be the Keepers of the Southern War Crown and the Legends of Kingship. They eventually established the city of Marsh in Rotamaz in the late First Ages and their influence was strong until the Last Ages.

The Seas of Muggy are: The Seas of Mvair, The Seas of Albarsar, The Seas of Zhebech, The Galian Sea, The Shalor Seas, The East Sea of Copar, The Sea of Kir, The Aken Seas, The Seas of Mitor-Un, The Tatan Contopea Seas, The Novocosra Sea and the Muggy Sea.

KINGDOMS & EMPIRES

Green-Lani: This was a city-kingdom. From a dark heirship it arose on the Plain of the Meadows and its fall was famous throughout the land. Orcil: The name of the kingdom that became the first name of the peninsular in the Further Southing. Pebvo: A famous Easting city that took the name of its greatest ruler. Peara: The Kingdom of the Marable Lands about a beautiful sandy coloured lake with a river that never reached the sea. Rotamaz: The ancient lands of the Hamb, Ci, and Rotama that Red Robes united by conquest and begun the Middle Ages with his new calendar.

Valy-For: The great mountainous and vallied lands of the Northing.

Paradia: The first Empire in the First Ages. Canap: The great Empire of the Middle Ages that dominated most of the Land of Muggy and held three war Crowns. Az- the great city of the Dark Westing. Lolenia: The great Empire of the Far Southing in the Middle and Last Ages. Greenscien: The Empire that evolved from old Valy-For to bring down Lolenia and Canap in the last Ages. Central Empire: The Empire set up by Lolenia and Canap to halt the expansion of Greenscien. The Early Strato: The short lived Empire that succeeded after Lolenia and Canap.

The Second Strato and the Plato: The enduring Empire that held the Four War Crowns of Muggy but disintegrated under Greenscien expansionism in the Last Ages.

Who was Inzorin?

She was the second wife of MACHARNAR. They produced a great line of seven daughters- Balarvih, Hinee, ORDWI, Mirrellar, Calepse, Nora and Wid. Mirrellar married the God BEL; and Calepse married the God NEGU. Ordwi married Miran and this line gave rise to the pure Wilderfolk line - as recognised by the Gods. Ordwi later married the God Shuh and in doing so the God lines were diluted and the Wilderfolk came to possess the blood of the Gods in their viens. This is key to the legend.

You announce language as part of all this! Is their a lexicon?

There is a Lexicon assembled for the Novel, but its reading might be more tiresome than the Oxford Dictionary and just as hard to put together!

Azzarlon

Known as the Dark King in the Surkling Story. He was from a line of great warriors of the Dark Westing. Said to have been given the Surkling by Dargo and Anhurr; and thereafter sought to expand the Dark Westing across the Southing with dreams of the Beyond

Geography

In the Land of Muggy there are the Great Regions. The Northing; The Easting; The Upper Westing; The Dark Westing and The Southing. These are further divided into the Well-Nigh- land on the borders, or the Nearly. The shores of Seas, lakes and rivers are known as the Approaches. The middle of towns, cities and kingdoms are called the Gildo. The middle of The Land of Muggy is called the Gildo. In astronomy the point directly overhead is the also the Gildo and Astronomers wear the Gildo on their shirts. Within a town there is the Lefting and Righting and the Righting Wall that always divides the town into its two parts. Each part is governed by a Wiziir who is a sort of mayor. Outside the City boundaries of the city is the Far Lefting and the Further Lefting; Far Righting and Further Righting. Places of unknown lands are called the Beyond or the Abroad. A traveler from a foreign land may be an Abroadsman or a Voyager.

The highest mountain in the Land of Muggy is Yar Biddaro in the Northing lands of Valy-For.

The greatest volcano is Ru Ca Ru in the uplands of the Easting.

The lowest and flattest plain is the Beros Plain in the Northing.

The Flag

The image on the flag is that of the Gildo. This is the ancient sign for the middle and was the seal of the Plato Empire.

THE AGES OF MUGGY

The Ages of Muggy According to the Wilderfolk.

There were four vast Mythical Ages before them. The beginning of Muggy was the Age of the God Tor- the story of the Creation. There followed the Empires of the Children, the Empires of the Sons and the Mythical Empires in which the Wilderfolk appeared only at the very end. All these Ages of the Gods had immeasurable time and concerned the Stars, the Gods, and the geological history of Muggy.

The Wilderfolk arose from the Mythical Empires of the Gods. From here come the Founding legends of Wilderfolk Civilization. They believed they were the Heirs to the throne of the Gods. Thus, the great regions, of which Muggy is divided, descended from the Lands of the Gods. Therefore, the Wilderfolk bore certain characters inherited from the Gods.

The Wilderfolk were mortal; and subject to all desires. A few, as it turned out, did possess 'Immortality' but only in times of great danger. The event of the Forging of the Four War Crowns of Muggy is the beginning of the First Age- according to the Plato Calendar. This is when they emerged into Civilization. This was still a time half buried in migration tales.

Somewhere the notion of the Righting and Lefting became established in these times, and the notion that there existed a middle of which they set aside in the middle of each town and city. This was the hallowed Gildo. The origins of the great Righting Line of Muggy were also born in these days.

Nevertheless, the time was marred at first by the Wars of the Wilderfane and the Wilderfallo. This time was dark in their history; an episode they did not like to recall. The broader Wilderfane and the slighter Wilderfallo lived together hereafter in harmony- as well as brothers can, although the organization of their society always reflected the shadow of this well-forgotten past.
