My Trip to Japan 1997

My school trip to Japan in year 9 was the first time I had ever been overseas. At first it was a bit hard for me as I was the only student my age going, everyone else was a year older. Many of the students I had never met before but I gradually got to met them whenever we had a meeting before going. The first day we got there the school (Mikage High School) had a festival on. There were many activities going on around the school, which enabled us to have a good look around. The following photo was taken the next day in one of the traditional Japanese rooms in the school.

The seven Leeming High School students and two teachers and also some of the Mikage Teachers.

While in Kobe, we went to Mikage High School for lessons about 7 times. While there we would go to different classes , where we would participate in the lessons. This was a great experience, as we were able to see how the school life for the Japanese students was. In the afternoons, when most of the Mikage students had there clubs, we would join in some of them.

On the days that we didnt go to the high school, we went to some of the other cities in Japan. The first city we went to was Kyoto. Kyoto was once the capital city of Japan before Tokyo. The Golden Temple is one of the famous buildings that has been built in Kyoto.

The next place we went to was Himeji. Himeji is the city that has the famous Himeji castle, which is a well known tourist attraction in Japan.

A few days later, our last sight seeing tour was to the oldest capital city in Japan, Nara. Nara was the capital of Japan before Kyoto, and is one of the oldest cities in Japan. Nara contains quite a few tourist attractions, such as:

The Great Buddha,

The Todaiji Temple,

And also has many deer wandering around the streets.

About 3 days later we left Japan and came back home to Perth. The trip to Japan was a great experience for me, and I will never forget the great times I had and the friends i made.
