Lorrie and Brucefan went on another adventure. This
time it was Lorrie's party. Brucefan hopped in his
car and drove down to Lorrie's house (150 miles) only
to throw his luggage in Lorrie's van and off they head
to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. (another 185 miles)
Anytime Lorrie gets a chance to see the ocean is a plus
for her. The drive was nice and excitement grew as
Lorrie could hardly wait to see Southside Johnny and The
Asbury Jukes at the Casino Ballroom at Hampton Beach.
Upon arrival at the coast, we scouted the area to locate
the casino and a parking lot; once done we headed to our
motel to check in with a quick stop there, then up the
coast to get a bite to eat.
The weather was glorious. A brief rest back at the motel
and off to see Johnny. We got to the Casino, parked the
van, and I hopped in my wheelchair and up we went to the
ballroom. Wow, a nice place it is too. Everyone was
helpful and gracious. As we were parking the car, a couple
walking by took note and commented "nice license plate"...
My NY State license plate is: Brucfan2.
The opening show was the "Mohegan Sun". They were good,
a nice blues band. Then promptly at 9:00 Johnny and the
Jukes came on stage. What a dynamo show! He sang all my
favorites of his and many more. Three hours with encore
after encore. It was worth every mile.
Now Brucefan, being the diehard fan of Bruce Springsteen
that he is, went on this adventure with me, to please me.
However, after seeing Johnny and The Jukes, he came away
with a whole new respect for this group. Of course Bruce-
fan had to say, "He ain't Bruce......." No, he is not Bruce,
but Southside Johnny and The Jukes rank right up there.
We both had a great time. -Lorrie

The Casino Ballroom at Hampton Beach, NH
was built in 1899. Below are pictures of
the structure over the years ending with
