The Torch Relay


HOME RELAY MAP OF AUSTRALIA

The longest Torch Relay in Olympic History sets off from Olympia, Greece on May 10. The journey of this Torch will be followed by the procession of vehicles and operational provision of extraordinary proportions.

From Greece the flame will flown by a giant jet to Guam, the first of Numerous Oceanic countries along it's trek to Australia. Where upon it is expexted to travel in 14 canoes through the entire Oceanic region. Upon arrival in Australia 11000 Torchbearers will carry the flame the 27 000 kilometres to the Olympic Stadium.

Intermittently the flame will travel on the Indian Pacific train across Central Australia and will also be carried underwater by a scuba diver.

On achievement of lighting the Olympic flame on September 14, the Torch would have been carried by 11 000 Torchbearers in Australia, 1 500 in Oceania and 800 in Greece.
