Who am I?

I recently fell in love and became a silly sap. I'm twenty-six years old, and mother of Kirstin, who turned 8 on August 7. I'm a senior at Michigan State, though not currently enrolled, and still have no idea what I'm ever going to do with a Natural Sciences degree, when all of my interests are in the fine arts and all my work experience is in desktop publishing and Wide-Area Networks. I'm thinking about medical school.

According to the latest developments, if I believed in labels I would be a caucasian middle-class heterosexual pagan single working mother. If you base things on my physical appearance, I am about 5 feet 8 inches tall, and rather slender, although since I am a professional computer geek, you wouldn't know it from the way I dress. I wear clothes neatly and professionally, but they are purposefully man-shaped and hence unflattering. I have light brown hair and brown eyes, and only wear glasses when I drive at night. If you take your first impressions on people's Keirsey analysis, I'm an ENFP with some ENTJ tendencies.

Kirstin and I both enjoy camping when we get the time, and singing together. I perform a lot in local community theatre stuff, and Kirstin was just in her first play this summer. We were both in Midsummer Night's Dream; she was a fairy, and I played Hermia. (O, Spite!) It was great fun, and Kirstin says she wants to try directing next. I've taken some time off from community theatre to get my life in order, but I must say I am tempted by the audition notices in the newspaper every weekend, so it's only a matter of time before I cave in.

I love exercise, and am a martial artist of sorts. I've been working on Aikido for about 5 years, and have just started to learn Tae Kwon Do. I do a lot of Yoga to stay limber in the face of my rather sedentary job.

I used to spend a lot of time with a few close friends, gaming and generally hanging around. For four years I lived in Lansing with my ex-boyfriend, Jeff. Things have drastically changed this year however, as he and I broke up, and I bought a house and moved to a small town. This was a really messy breakup and caused no end of chaos among my friends, although things are starting to smooth out a little, I think. I now spend a lot of time alone, working on my house, reading as many good books as possible, and practicing Yoga and Tae Kwon Do. I'm dating a very very nice man named Forest who I love and adore, and I think he just may be the ONE. I was "remaining aloof" for propriety's sake, but I gave up on that notion on one extremely romantic evening not too long ago.

I work for the Michigan Public Health Institute. We research and accredit public health programs. I'm working on a project to connect Health Departments to the State of Michigan, so that they can share Immunization data. It's all very confusing.

I have two sisters. Laura is a junior at WMU, and I think she is majoring in education now. She is a very hard worker, and loves to dance. Karen just graduated with honors with two Bachelor's degrees, Music and Music Therapy. Karen just got married this June to Jim, another WMU grad who just got his Masters in P-Chem. Don't be fooled by his insane major, we love Jim, and think he is a really nice guy. Karen and Jim also just bought a house in Lansing this summer, so I will get to see a lot more of them! Jim's going for his P-Chem PhD. Eek. They bought a puppy. I'm jealous.

I don't know what else you would want to know, so that's all for now. Ask a question and I will answer it.
