Three French Hens
I'm appreciating my mother today. One of my coworkers' moms died yesterday, and another one just received a call that his is declining, and will probably not make it through Christmas. I can't imagine the world without my mom. Some years we've been close, other years we've been holiday companions and occasional callers, but she's always been my mom. Then again, I don't think anyone is ever ready to lose a parent. So things around here are a little depressing, and I don't have a whole lot of time to think about it, because I have to cover for people who are out on bereavement leave. I'm looking forward to tonight's shopping trip in hopes that it will warm ye ole spirits a bit.
Yesterday we were inundated in big, wet snowflakes, which are still all over the ground this morning. It's starting to look like Christmas out there! It's a good thing I quit my mall job, since I just found out that I'm going to be busier than I thought. My grandma Ruth bought tickets for Kirstin and I to see the Rockettes Christmas show in Detroit on the 26th. The 26th is also the day of my dad's Christmas get-together, and I have to go back to work on the 27th. I'm not complaining, of course. It's good to be busy with family during the holidays. I'm just secretly hoping for a little time to cool my heels, so to speak.
I'm afraid I have a lot of work to do today. I hope to catch up later...
