THAT WENCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe this really happened to me. Someone last night plowed their 2+ ton van into the back of my NEW MINIVAN!!!!!!!!! You know, the one that I have only had for about 4 months? The one I love and adore, that is my first step to a stable financial future? THAT one.

I slowed down because there was a board in the road and I didn't want to get a flat tire. So the woman behind me SPEEDS UP into my rearend. I'm rather upset, in case you missed that subtle subtext. Of course justice is in place, and the lady who rear-ended me (HARD) got a ticket for it. (Oh, boo hoo. ) But of course this is Michigan, and according to the laws she doesn't have to pay for my damages. Luckily I am fully insured and have been paying out the nose for said insurance, so I have no deductable.

But I'm sore from my head to my toes (and particularly my neck) and am feeling that awful "victimized" shadow casting over my head. I'm waiting for the appraiser from the insurance company to look at it (apparently he has to decide whether is it totaled or not) and they won't tell me when he is coming: it should be sometime in the next couple of days. So once this illusive individual shows up, and I see how much the insurance company would like to scam me, I get to take it in to a body shop and have it repaired.

Now supposedly the $500 service plan that I bought with my van should mean that they pay for a loaner car for me, but I was reading the contract, and the language in there is weak at best.

So I might get stuck with no car for however long it takes them to fix it.

I wonder if this affects my ability to refinance the car? I know that it reduced the resale and trade-in value... but I'm sure my insurance company doesn't give a damn about that. After I spent 45 minutes on hold last night, I was fairly convinced that while they live to sell me an expensive policy, they are not so interested in paying out on claims.
