A slightly better day...

Wow yesterday was awful. I am amazed at what an absolutely crappy day it was. As for the saga of the soggy laptop, I still don't know whether it will work. The guy at the computer store told me to take it home and sit it in front of a fan for 24 hours and pray. Thanks a heap, computer guy.

Yesterday also sucked because I found out that I might get stuck in a cubicle. I hate HATE cubicles. Our department has been very cramped lately, since we have hired so many new people, and we have been trying for months to get ourselves enough room. I share a little office with my coworker right now, an arrangement I find perfectly agreeable. We have lots of windows, and enough room for both of us and a few computers each.

Up until this point I think our department head has been offered several different spaces, but each time the company has backed out of the deal and moved someone else in. So now, the new girl, who took my old job is getting a nice 4-walled office with a door. The gal they hired three months after I started to be the system analyst is getting a corner office with a beautiful view. I, however, am being put in the hallway in a cubicle with the entry-level desktop support techs. Even if I were to stand on my desk, I wouldn't be able to see a window.

I keep reminding myself that I like my job a lot, and it doesn't matter where I do it, it will still be the same job. I also keep reminding myself that I am lucky to be here, and that I could be out flipping burgers somewhere. Also, I keep remembering that the past 4 deals looked about this certain, and they fell through in the planning phases.

I hope this one falls through, too. I didn't realize I had become so prideful, until I felt a blow to it.

Today is better, though. I actually got a proposal written up and off my desk, which is a nice feeling. Roomie is coming home today, which is nice, too, although the house isn't clean, as I have spent all my time trying to dry a laptop out. I was also supposed to go to Bath last night and pick up some stuff we need to move out of the theatre before it closes for the summer, but didn't have time for that either. My roomie will be disappointed in me. I hope he understands. (And if he is the one who spilled water on the laptop, he can go to hell.)
