Should I stay or should I go?
I made the hardest decision today. I was invited to go with *heshallremainnameless* to visit his friend Karl in Milwaukee. This is a last minute trip, planned because Karl expects to be sent to Kosovo shortly as soon as ground troops go in, and that will likely be on very short notice. It seems like a fairly straightforward thing, but believe me, it wasn't. All of my newfound grown-up responsible parts were screaming
"No, no... stay home and do laundry! Clean the house! Scrub the floors, make the beds, do the dishes!! It's too expensive to go, you need to save money so you can buy expensive things another day!"So naturally, the more childish, more interesting side rebelled, seductively whispering
"You can go. Relax. Live a little. Do what you enjoy. It'll be fun. You'll be sorry if you don't go. You'll spend the weekend feeling deserted and stranded, and worrying that your minivan is wrecked on the turnpike. You will have plenty of time to work another day."Obviously, I'm going to Milwaukee tomorrow. I guess I spent this entire week holed up in a server closet, and need to feel like a social being once in a while! Besides, I was good. I paid all my bills. Early. I'm running smoothly on the path to saving for my move. I will be able to replace my couch. And my matress. And everything else I have but despise. I * Can * Save * money without giving up life.
See you Monday!
