What's the name of that song?
I'm sorry I missed writing yesterday. I took part of the day off, and got Kirstin signed up for her new school for next fall! I'm pretty excited about it. There are going to be a lot more resources available to her now. At her old school, all a student had was her classroom teacher. That was it. There wasn't anyone to back that teacher up if the student needed extra help. At the new school, they have a whole structure of specialized teachers, counselors, and administrators who can step in if a kid needs a hand. I think that's great.
I also looked around for a place to live when I move. That's not going to be so easy. I don't want to live in an apartment building. I have been there, done that, and hated it. I also have too much stuff to fit into a tiny little flat. I have been spoiled, I'm afraid. I've had a full basement for 6 years now. I have boxes of Christmas stuff, a washer and dryer, a bunch of shelves with camping gear, car-repair gear (which I hope not to need), tools, craft stuff, extra blankets, winter clothes in storage, musical instruments, ice skates, and that kind of stuff. These are the kinds of things one would use only on occasion, but they would be costly to replace, so I wouldn't want to get rid of them.
The trouble is, it's pretty hard to find a house for rent in Eaton Rapids. There are only a couple in the paper, and the landlord doesn't want to hold them until August. There are all kinds of dinky little apartments though.
Today is going to be another day of meetings. I think fully half of my work week is spent planning and meeting and bargaining and budgeting. I would sure get a lot more done if I were just a loose cannon with a million dollars and could do whatever I wanted. Wishful thinking!
I have a song stuck in my head. It's so familiar that I'm sure I should have heard it somewhere, but somehow I think I'm making it up. It doesn't sound like the usual nineties fare!
