The Idea

     Caroline and I both decided to go travelling when we were living in Aix en Provence. It is something that we have both wanted to do for a long time so it seemed natural to do it together. The plan is to fly to India and then explore as much as possible. We intend to cover India, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia. This trip should take about five months because we have to be in Oz before our working permits expire in March 2001. Whilst in Oz we will probably need to earn some cash, but we still intend to explore as much a possible, especially the ski resorts (Caza wants to fine tune her snowboarding skills).

     The purpose of the exploration is to see what the world is really like. We want to broaden our minds, see new cultures and generally expand our personal concept of reality. Don't get us wrong though, we are not tree hugging hippies. We are going to have a great laugh exploring these new worlds, but there is little point in just skimming over these apparently beautiful places, we want to really get to grips with them. We are both very aware that when we go to these new worlds we will experience a huge culture shock. Long gone will be the days of my mother's good pastas and Caroline's warm house in Dublin, but not for ever.
