Harut, Haroth, Haurvatati, Haroot Usually linked with Maroth in Islamic legend. Harut was sent down from Heaven (with Maroth) to teach mortals the art of government (Koran, sura 2,102). In Persian lore, Harut and Maroth were angels of the highest rank, claimed to be two of the Amesha Spentas, and in possession of the secret name of God; this name unhappily they revealed to Zobra or Zuhrah, a mortal woman, with whom they both fell in love. A footnote to Ode 14 of Hafiz states that by the power of the Explicit Name, Zuhrah ascended to Venus ”with which she became identified in Mohammedan mythology”; and continues that the fallen angels (Marut and Harut) ”were punished be being confined, head down, in a pit near Babylon, where they were supposed to teach magick and sorcery.” In the Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics IV, 615, the two are characterized as ”fallen angels with a Satanic role.”

Hauras, Haures, Havres, Flauros One of the seventy-two spirits that Solomon, according to legend, shut up in a brass vessel and cast into a deep lake 9or into the sea). Formerly a mighty celestial power. He conversed gladly about the creation of the world and the fall of the angels. In Hell, he is a great duke. He appears in the form of a leopard but on command of an exorcist, will manifest in human form. He gives true answers concerning the past and the future. Under his bidding are thirty-six legions.

Helel In Canaanitish mythology, a fallen angel, son of Sahar or Sharer, a winged deity. Helel sought help to usurp the throne of the chief god and, as punishment, was cast down into the abyss. The 1st star to fall from Heaven (Enoch I, 86:1) was Satan-Helel. He was the leader of the nephilim. Generally, angels can have no offspring since they are pure spirits; but when angels sin, ”put on the corruptibility of the flesh” and cohabit with mortal women, they are capable of producing progeny. A case in point is Genesis 6.
