Chapter 13

No, this can’t be happening, not at my engagement party. I thought. I gasped as I saw A.J. making his way to Jermie. I knew what he was up to, I could tell by the look on his face. I quickly went to him and stopped him.

“A.J., just what are you planning on doing?” I hissed.

“Going to tell your fiancé’ that you can’t marry him.” He replied.

“You can’t do that, he cares about me too much, I can’t, I won’t hurt him like that,”

“You’ll hurt him more by marrying him and knowing full well that he doesn’t have your love, that your heart belongs to me,”

“Forget that A.J, you can’t tell me that you would dump Amanda like that, you care about her a lot, I think you love her, and you know that I’m jealous of that, but I’m putting my feelings aside and thinking about all of us. You, Amanda, Jermie, and I could raise Ajah together and be-“

“No, he will not raise her, she is mine,” A.J. growled showing his possessive side. I raised my eyebrows.

“And yours too of course,”

“Hey Baby, I have been looking everywhere for you,” I turned around and Jermie hugged me tightly and I returned the hug. “Is something wrong MaKentreey?”

“No, of course not,”

“Are you sure,” I nodded. “Yeah, everything’s perfect,”

“Okay, well are you ready to make the announcement and cut the cake?”

“Yeah, I’m ready.” I mumbled my good-bye to A.J. and let Jermie lead me in front of the crowd.

“MaKentreey and I would like to thank all of you for coming tonight to help celebrate our engagement.” Jermie said.

“MaKentreey, you are the best friend, woman, companion, I could ever ask for, and I love you with all of my heart and I always will.”

“I love you too Jermie.” I said looking into his eyes. But as I said those words I wondered if they were true. How could I love Jermie when I loved A.J. with every single bit of my heart? I had no room to love another man like that. I looked at A.J. as he looked at me. My heart told me that I should run to him…but it would complicate things so much. So instead of doing the thing I wanted to do, I put my arms around my fiancé’ and hugged him. I saw A.J. turn around and leave the room. I wanted to run after him, but I couldn’t.
