Chapter 10

(MaKentreey's POV)

What was wrong with me? I had let my defenses drop around A.J. again. That could never happen again. Besides, I have Jermie, and Ajah wouldn't go for that," The phone rang. I was too tired so I let the answering machine pick it up. "Kentreey get up, I don't care if your tired, you have to tell me what happened." I groaned and got up to answer it.

M: Hi Jamie

J: What happened?

M: I took her to that pizza place.

J: What?! Oh my god, I am so happy for you.

M: Thanks, can I call you back?

J: Yeah you rest up, cause tonight we are going clubbin'!

M: I groaned. What time?

J: 8:30, be there, gotta go.

M: Jami- (Click)

I hung up and before I knew it I was asleep.

(Club)

"Let's go dance" Jermie said.

"Okay, but first let's go get something to drink,"

"Okay, come on," He offered me his hand and I took it as he led me to the bar.

"Can I help you?"

"Yeah, I'll take a coke, baby what do you want?" I asked.

"I'll have the same," Jermie answered. I looked at him. "Don't look at me like that, you were the one last night all on my back about drinking," he said smiling. I grinned,

"Thanks Jer, that means a lot to me." He nodded. He paid for our drinks and we left. We were just about at the table when I bumped into someone. I came this close to spilling my drink on the person.

"I am so sorry," I said.

"No problem," I recognized that voice.

"A.J.?" He looked up.

"Oh hey Entreey."

"Hey" I saw a look pass over his first noticed Jermie.

"Umm…Jermie this A.J., A.J., this is Jermie." I introduced them.

"Hey man,"

"Hey" They shook hands. "MaKentreey, is this you're A.J.?" Jermie asked.

"He's not my AJ, he's my daughter's A.J. Where's Ajah?" I asked.

"Spending the night with Leela, where else?"

"Are the rest of the guys here?"

"Yeah, I told them you were back," I nodded. Then a woman came up and put her arms around A.J.'s waist…the same way I used to do.

"Baby, we thought you had gotten lost," Oh so this must be Amanda. Yeah, she was definitely his type, I knew his type, because I was his type. I was envious of her, and I didn't even know her. He felt something for her, I could see it in his eyes, the same thing I had saw 7 years ago that had sent me running scared. Now that that look in his eyes was not for me, I didn't feel whole, I didn't feel complete.

"This is my girlfriend Amanda, Amanda, this is MaKentreey and her boyfriend Jermie."

"Hi, nice to meet you," I said shaking her hand.

"You look so familiar," she said.

"Yeah, I get that a lot,"

'You remind me of someone…hey I got it, A..J., she looks like Ajah doesn't…Oh my God, is she Ajah's mother?"

"Well…" A.J. stuttered.

"Is she A.J.?"

"Yes, I am," I answered for him.

"What are you doing here, in West Palm Beach?" she asked.

"I came to see Ajah,"

"Have you seen her yet?"

"Yes,"

"And she didn't oppose of you coming back?"

"She doesn't seem to be,"

"A.J., why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't know you were coming home a week early,"

"I've been home at least 8 hours,"

"I didn't want to just throw that at you, I was going to tell you tonight." He answered. She nodded.

"How long do you plan on sticking around this time?" She asked airily.

"I plan on living here" I said.

"And Ajah doesn't have a problem with that?"

I shrugged. "I'm her mother. A.J., I'll see you tomorrow at 12."

"What does she mean she'll see you tomorrow?"

"Chill Manda, she's picking Ajah up tomorrow," She nodded.

"Bye A.J.,"

"MaKentreey, is that you?" a voice asked behind AJ.

"Oh my God Nick, I haven't seen you in forever," I said hugging him tightly and getting a tighter hug back. Nick and I had always been close. "I missed you so much Nick" I said.

"I missed you too,"

"You've changed a lot, I like it," I said admiring his once boyish, now manly attributes,"

"Thanks, you look extremely fine, as usual"

"Thank you Nick,"

"Where is Brian, Howie, and Kevin?" I asked.

"Right here, hey Entreey,"

"Hey Brian," I said hugging him. "Hey Kevin, Howie." I exchanged hugs with them. "I missed ya'll so much," I said.

"We missed you too, but it was a little peace without you AND Nick pulling pranks all the time," Kevin said. I smiled..

"Do you guys want to sit down?" Howie asked. We agreed and went to their table. There were two women sitting down.

"MaKentreey this is my wife Leigh, and Kevin's wife Kristen,"

"Oh congratulations guys."

"Hi, nice to meet you," I said to the women.

"You too," they replied.

"So who's your date?" Brian asked.

"This is my boyfriend Jermie, Jer, this is Nick, Brian, Howie, and Kevin." They acknowledged each other and we started up a conversation.

"Did you go to medical school?" Kevin asked.

"Yes, I am now a pediatrician." I told them a lot more about me, and even why I came back. It was clear that Amanda didn't like me, oh well, I didn't like her either.

"Jermie, oh my god, we left Jamie," I got up. "I'll be right back," I got up and went back around to the table where I had left Jamie. "Jamie, I'm so sorry,"

"Where the hell have you been,"

"Jer and I saw A.J., and they invited us over to sit with them,"

"And you just left me,"

"I got distracted, come on, I want you to meet them anyway," She followed me and I led the way back to the table. "Guys, I want you to meet my best friend Jamie,"

"Jamie, this is Nick, Brian, Kevin, Howie, A.J., and...I'm sorry, I forgot your name," I said skipping Amanda.

"It's Amanda," she snapped. I shrugged.

"Hi, nice to meet you all,' Jamie said acknowledging all of the guys. She sat down next to meet at the table. We all talked a few more minutes then people started getting up to dance.

"We never did dance I told Jermie,"

"Want to?" he asked.

"Yeah," He took my hand and we got up to leave.

"Want to dance Manda?' A.J. asked.

"Let's dance," she answered. It was obvious on the floor that A.J. and Amanda were trying to competing against Jermie and I, so, being a man, Jermie decided to put us in the competition. It was tough to see which couple danced the best because A.J. was a much better dancer than Jermie, and I was way better than Amanda…according to Nick and Brian. When we sat back down Jermie's cell phone rang, it was the hospital calling him in for an emergency so he had to leave, and Amanda some of Amanda's friends came over and asked to "talk" to her. A.J. and I were alone at the table.

"Damn A.J., you're still one hell of a dancer." I said.

"Yeah, you are too, imagine what it would be like if we danced together."

"We did, remember at that dance we went to in 8th grade?"

"Oh yeah, the one we got threw out of for dancing so freaky?" he said smiling.

I laughed. "That was all your fault,"

"No, it was yours. We got best couple that year too," he said.

"Yeah we did…I still think we are," I said. I clasped my hand over my mouth and looked away. .Oh my god had I just said that?

"You do?"

"No...I mean..I gotta go, bye A.J, tell Jamie I'll call her," I got up and quickly left the table.

"MaKentreey," I heard A.J. call. I ignored him and left the club.
