Chapter 11

(8 months later)
(A.J.'s POV)

"Ajah, your Mom is here," She ran down the stairs.

"Hey Mom," she said hugging MaKentreey.

"Hey baby, you ready to go,"

"Yeah," Over time, Ajah and MaKentreey had gotten really close, so had had MaKentreey and me. We were friends, she said we were strictly friends but I felt myself falling for her all over again, I couldn't stop it, I didn't know if I wanted to, and it was getting really hard for me to control myself around her. I don't know how she felt about me, she was really good at hiding her feeling from me.

"Mom, have you asked daddy yet?"

"Me?"

"You were supposed to ask,"

"Ask me what?"

"Well can Ajah go to Miami with me this week end?"

"She was supposed to go to my family reunion this week end," Amanda said entering the room.

"She's my Mom, I want to go with her. Can I daddy?" Amanda looked at me. Damn, I was in the middle…again. Amanda knew I couldn't refuse Ajah anything, and we had had a talk about that, but….

"Yes, you can go," Amanda left the room. "When will you have her back?" I asked.

"Monday morning,"

"Okay,"

"Thanks A.J." she said hugging me then kissing me on the cheek. Just a little turn of my head her lips would be on mine. I could smell her perfume, her smell was making me dizzy, I was so in love with her, but I couldn't show it.

"Bye daddy," Ajah said practically pulling MaKentreey off me and out the door.

"Bye Ajah," I smiled to myself for an unknown reason, I just felt happy when I was around her.

"A.J., how could you? We have been planning this for months,"

"She didn't want to go Amanda, I couldn't tell her she couldn't go with her mother,"

"A.J., if you plan on marrying me one day, she needs to meet my family, and get comfortable with me,"

"She is comfortable with you,"

"She hates me,"

"She just…I don't know, but I promise that you two will be spending more time together," She sighed.

"A.J., I'm not blind, I see the way you look her, do you like her?"

"Who?" MaKentreey? Of course not,"

"Back when you and her were dating, did you really love her?"

"I was 16 years old Amanda,"

"But you thought you were in love with her didn't you?" I know I was. I thought to myself.

"What difference does it make?"

"I don't want to lose you A.J."

"Baby, you won't, I promise," She hugged me and I hugged her back. Damn, now all I had to do was keep that promise.
(MaKentreey's POV)

"Ajah, let's go,"

"Isn't Jermie coming?" she asked sarcastically.

"No, Jermie has to work,"

"Thank God, I don't see why he has to follow us around for anyway,"

"Ajah, he just wants to get to know you,"

"I don't want to get to know him. Mom?"

"Yeah?"

"You know when I said I didn't want you and daddy together?"

"Uh huh"

"I changed my mind,"

"Baby, your daddy has Amanda, and I have Jermie,"

"Forget them,"

"We can't, your father loves Amanda, I know you know he plans on marrying her someday,"

"He can't, she's not my mother,"

"She'll be your step mother, you'll have two mothers, and when Jermie and I get married, you'll have two fathers,"

"When?"

"I mean if," She looked at me hard.

"He asked you to marry him didn't he,"

"Well…"

"No, you can't do this, you accepted didn't you?"

"Yes! Aren't you excited."

"No!"

"But I thought you would be happy,"

"How could I be happy, I hate him!" She yelled jumping from her place on the couch.

"Ajah, you said he was okay,"

"I lied to make you happy,"

"Oh, I didn't know,"

"You haven't gotten to know him, he loves you, and he wants to be close to you,"

"I don't want to be close to him,"

"But Ajah don't you see that your father and I will never be together,"

"You have to tell him."

"Tell who what?"

"You have to tell daddy that you are getting married."

"I will…eventually,"

"Why not now?"

"I'm just not ready to tell him,"

"Can honestly say that you don't feel one thing for him?"

"What?"

"You know exactly what I mean,"

"A.J. and I go back a long way, of course I fell something for him, just not in that way,"

"Yeah right, what was with that hug thing when you came and picked me up?"

"Nothing was up with it, it was a friendly hug,"

"Friendly hugs don't last that long,"

"Okay, okay, maybe I do have more than friendly feelings toward A.J., but Jermie gives me those feeling back. Now Aje, if you don't want me to marry Jermie, if you really and truly don't, all you have to do is say so, and I won't,"

"So if I say that I don't want you to marry Jermie, you won't?"

"I won't"

"Does he make you happy Mama?"

"Yes, he does,"

"Then marry him,"

"Are you sure?" She nodded.

"Will you tell Daddy when we get back" I nodded, "Okay," I took her in my arms and hugged her tightly.

"I love you Ajahieanna,"

"I love you too Mom,"
