- I've started a Message Board! Here's the link: My Message Board. Let's keep the posts clean! I am going to put Selena's message in my guestbook as the first post. I was thinking that you guys can just say hi, or put up a topic to discuss, or even to respond to something like what I have written before. Have fun!
- Ack, Christian colleges. Here's my opinion on them: I, being a Christian, like the idea of a college based around my faith, but I have to question how they teach their students. To me, it seems, high school grads go to college to grow and expand both their academic knowledge and their personal experiences. These experiences may or may not be what some might call "Christian" things to do; but what's important to realize is the fact that these events and experiences expand our personas for the better. If we find an activity we like and is good for us in college, we keep on doing it. If we find one we like but is bad for us, we eventually stop doing it. I believe that in a Christian college your number of activities is limited, and the kind of people/places you'll meet and go is restricted. Thus, Christian colleges bar you, to a certain extent, from that "college" experience.
I go to HSU, one of the most liberal colleges one can go to on the West coast. I am extremely grateful for the number of eclectic individuals I've met: I can honestly say that very, very few of them are Christians. They've taught me that humanity CAN NOT be cookie-cuttered into one way of being (e.g. Christianity). Some people will just never fit the mold of Christianity. Yes, I do believe in miracles, and maybe someday these "different" individuals will become God-fearing people, but I highly doubt it. In the mean time, they've shown me how nice it is to believe in a living God that knows and cares about me, and that yes, heaven does exist, and yes, I'll be gong there one day.
I love you Tara.
